Lichnaftia Beach Tinos

2 minutes to read

The lonely Lychnaftia Beach is found in the southeastern part of the Tinos Island about seven kilometers from the capital Tinos Town near the picturesque Triantaros village, five kilometers inland.

The Lychnaftia beach is a small coast of sand, black and white pebbles, rocks with crystal clear and clear waters, an intense blue and green sea, seabed that descends slowly, therefore also perfect for families with small children. All around a still uncontaminated and wild nature with providential salty cedar and tamarisk trees that give the environment an almost heavenly atmosphere. From here you can see the transgressive Mykonos IIsland and on particularly clear days it almost seems to be able to touch it. If you like snorkeling, don't forget fins, snorkel and mask to explore the mysterious seabed.

Quiet, silent with only the sound of the sea and the song of a few birds, the Lychnaftia beach is ideal for those who want to stay in contact with Mother Nature. Everything here is in its remote state, man has not yet and we hope he never does put his hand in this corner of Tinos, there is nothing just you and the sea. If during your holiday in Tinos you decide to choose this coast for a day at the beach, remember to bring everything, from drinks to cool off, to food when your stomach begins to gurgle and something to shelter you from the sun during the hottest hours because above all in the summer the temperatures also reach very high levels. Also check out the weather conditions as its location makes it vulnerable when northerly winds begin to whip across the Greek Islands.

Loved by the lonely and the adventurous, Lychnaftia beach is an escape from the hectic life and excellent for recharging the psycho-physical energies.

The small Triandaros village also deserves a visit, among other things the only inhabited center that connects the beach. Directly overlooking the deep blue of the Aegean, it was populated by over three hundred inhabitants until the 1960s, currently a little less but it has not lost its charm. Its origins date back to the Middle Ages and today we can admire it with its traditional architecture houses. The upper part is divided into two Vrisi and the lower part Xynari still have two ancient wells and springs that sprout as if by magic from under the poplars. In the main square in the village below you can admire a well-preserved ancient oil mill. Pay a visit to the church of the Apostles dating back to 1861 and one of the largest in Tinos decorated inside with marbles and carvings, and again the church of Gria Panagia with two temples one for Catholics and one for the Orthodox who in the times in which the two religions "got along" met for the functions even at the same moments.

From the Triantaros village pass two streams that flow into Gyrla and Agia Paraskevi giving life to green valleys and which once fed the windmills, some of which have been converted into particular homes today.

How to get to Lychnaftia Beach

It is essential to have your own vehicle, whether it is a car or a scooter. Direction southwest following the road signs for Triantaros from the old provincial road, after the town go straight again until you reach a crossroads where you first turn right and then immediately left until you descend towards the beach.

A stop to underline in the list of things to do in Tinos, for a moment of pure relaxation away from everything and everyone in a formidable natural setting.
