Kionia Beach Tinos

2 minutes to read

The large Kionia beach, we find it in the southwest area of the mystical Tinos Island about three kilometers west of the Chora.

The whole area of Kionia is very beautiful, passing from a mountain scenery to the sea and with a respectable nature around. The village of the same name is one of the favorite destinations for visitors and is especially perfect for families with small children or for those who want a holiday in Tinos based on relaxation and peace. There are many tourist structures that offer accommodation, from apartments to large resorts directly on the sea with all possible comforts and entertainment.

Kionia beach is largely made of soft light sand mixed with stones, clear and transparent waters, a sea that goes from blue to turquoise to sparkling blue with a seabed that descends slowly where the little ones can have fun in absolute safety and the grown-ups enjoy the warm sunrays. It should be noted that at the end of the beach, after the rocks, there are three delightful little coves, first because they are downwind and secondly because they are not very busy.

The area of the resort is partly equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas, games and water sports, while a part is completely free so you can choose the corner that inspires you the most, spread out your towel and spend hours in complete relaxation. For something to drink and eat you can stock up in the mini markets in the village. As for the shade, Mother Nature also comes to our aid in this case, the coast is surrounded by providential tamarisk trees where you can find respite in the hottest hours of the day and maybe even take a refreshing nap.

Kionia beach is always very clean and well-kept, sometimes it is a little windswept but fortunately only a few days a month when the Meltemi makes itself felt, so before planning a day right here, consult the weather forecast to avoid unnecessary travel . Snorkelers can have fun in the part near the rocks to discover the underwater world so put fins, mask and snorkel in your backpack.

Added value to the whole area is the lack of nightlife in the village thus offering moments of absolute tranquility and above all without annoying noises.

Curiosity

In ancient times a temple dedicated to the God Poseidon, God of the sea, earthquakes and horses was erected and it was customary to come here to swim because the waters were considered sacred. Today you can admire the ruins of the temple where ceremonies and propitiatory rites were celebrated. The stretch of beach directly in front of the site forms part of Tsambia beach and is close to the cliffs and consequently sheltered from the wind.

How to get to Kionia Beach

It is not difficult indeed on the contrary very simple. If you have a rental vehicle, whether it's a car or a scooter, it makes no difference, just head southwest following the main road and the signs towards Kionia.

A second chance if you don't want to get behind the wheel for your holiday in Greece, there is public transport with buses that will take you here. Always consult the timetables to better organize your trip.

Last but not so bad, walk. If you stay at the Chora, it's a three-kilometre walk starting from the port, following the coastal road in the opposite direction to the town.

A destination that deserves to be included among the things to do in Tinos for a relaxing day at the beach where you can recharge your batteries.
