Agios Romanos Beach Tinos

2 minutes to read

The Agios Romanos Beach, we find it in the southwestern part of the mystical Tinos Island about twelve kilometers from the capital Tinos Town which is even further south than the coast.

Set in a beautiful bay from which another pearl of the Cyclades Islands is visible, the Syros Island, it has a long and narrow beach of soft golden sand mixed with some pebbles, transparent and crystalline waters, a blue sea brilliant with a gently sloping seabed perfect for families with children and for those who love to swim. All around in previous years providential tamarisk trees have been planted which during the hottest hours and when the sun is at its peak reaching high temperatures, allow you to have a little shade and refreshment.

The Agios Romanos beach is not equipped, everything is in a natural and free state so you can find your corner of paradise after taking a nice inspection walk, spread out your towel and enjoy a wonderful day at the beach.

It is very popular especially with locals who gather at the weekend to spend relaxing hours with family or friends. In recent years, given the expansion of the area and the notoriety of the Tinos Island, many visitors also come to this beautiful and quiet beach to benefit from the well-deserved relaxation after a hard year of work.

As for the catering, there is a typical Greek tavern where dishes based on fresh products and traditional Greek cuisine are served, also based on ancient local recipes. Your palate will thank you for the delicacies that can be savored. In the vicinity, however, you will have the opportunity to choose from other characteristic restaurants where you can sit and delight your taste buds.

Agios Romanos beach is especially suitable for those who want to stay in close contact with Nature because everything is still in its original state. Here 'no beach bar or ball music, only the sound of the sea and the shouting of children who in total safety, given the conformation of the seabed, can have fun until I drop.

The tiny agglomeration behind it has grown considerably over time, so much so that in case you decide to have this part of the island as a base for your holiday in Tinos, you can find apartments and villas for rent. always given the lack of availability, it is always better to grab the best solutions in time.

On the left edge of the beach, there is a lovely chapel dedicated to Saint Romanos which gives it its name and a small marina where if you are among the lucky ones to have your own boat you can moor during your exploration of the coast.

From the Agios Romanos beach also through a dirt path (in this case it would be better if you had suitable shoes and not flip flops), it is possible to reach the beautiful and solitary Apigania beach with its fine sand mixed with pebbles where however there is no is absolutely shade but on the other hand a fairytale sea where you can enjoy a regenerating bath. If you decide to go this far, remember to bring everything you need such as water or drinks, food and something to shelter from the sun.

How to get to Agios Romanos Beach

It is very simple thanks to the new and comfortable asphalted road that starts from the city of Kionia which is about five kilometers to the south. Go all the way along the coast until you find an easily traversable dirt road on the left which, after three and a half kilometers, will bring you to your destination.

Coming from Pyrgos instead, follow the signs and turn left when you meet the road sign for Agios Romanos and also in this case after about three kilometers you will have arrived.

It is necessary to have a rental vehicle that is a car or a scooter, it makes no difference because there is no local bus service. Upon your arrival there is a small free car park and as always, here too the rule is that those who arrive first stay better.

If you are not independent you can still participate in one of the tours organized by the various tourist agencies on the  Tinos island which also include the Agios Romanos beach.
