Livada Beach Tinos

2 minutes to read

The strange and particular Livada beach, we find it in the southeast part of the Tinos island about nineteen kilometers southwest of the capital Tinos Town.

Lost in a small bay, the Livada beach has a sandy coast mixed with small pebbles, clean and crystalline waters, a turquoise and blue sea with a seabed that drops very quickly therefore not really suitable for families with children and if you are not an expert swimmer.

The peculiarity of Livada beach are the rocks that are located on the sides of the beach, real works of art of Mother Nature, large stone formations that almost look like marbles shaped by the wind and the salt that give a landscape almost fairy, from another world and very reminiscent of Kolymbithres beach in Paros. Behind tamarisk trees for moments of respite during the hottest hours.

Given its position, it is often beaten by the winds which usually for a few days every month hurl themselves against the Greek Islands creating large and dangerous waves therefore, in anticipation of your visit during your holiday in Tinos, it would be better to consult the weather conditions at in order not to waste time considering the fact that to reach it is not so easy and fast.

Livada beach is perfect for a day of isolation with only the sounds of Nature where everything is still in its original and surprisingly wild state. Its environment fits between the sea and vegetation so much so that around it there is an oak forest, a small lake and a river that flows right into the Aegean (and this is the reason why the waters are colder than on other beaches) and a habitat that offers the ideal conditions for a colorful fauna such as turtles, ducks, geese, migratory birds and cute little goats that have become so accustomed to the presence of man that on the hottest days they seek shelter among the ravines of the rocks and without any fear they position themselves to allow themselves refreshment and perhaps a nap. It should be emphasized that the area between the town of Myrsini and the beach of Livada is part of the Natura 2000 project which deals with the conservation and protection of these little corners of Paradise.

It is not equipped, here you can choose the corner that most inspires you, place your towel and enjoy a beautiful day at the beach. As for the restaurant, a typical tavern open only for the summer period where you can taste excellent dishes of the classic Greek and local cuisine. The funny thing is that in this area there is no electricity but despite all the art of getting by as always offers its surprising surprises. On the road that leads to the beach of Livadia, however, there is another point to eat, the Taverna Mesi, which you absolutely must not miss.

How to get to Livada Beach

It's not difficult, let's say that the last stretch is a bit more difficult. First and essential information is that you will necessarily have to be autonomous. There are no public buses that arrive here and also thanks to this the beach of Livada is still pristine and original.

Keeping the capital as a point of reference, the direction is towards the north, cutting the island in the middle and following the road signs for Steni and Mesi. At a certain point the paved road ends and the dirt road begins which will take you directly to the parking area behind the beach. As always, we recommend you to be very careful on the paths not marked on the maps and above all on paved roads, the hirers do not cover the expenses in the event of damage, so always have a close eye.

An unusual but very nice stop to include among the things to do in Tinos, to get to know this small but beautiful island.
