Galissas beach is found in the southwestern part of Syros Island about seven kilometers from the capital Ermoupolis, a beautiful town where there are the last shipwrights of Greece as well as the main administrative center of the Cyclades Islands.

Just after Galissas another pleasant beach, the Armeos beach just behind the hill, reachable on foot in a maximum of ten minutes, passing through a rock. Very quiet and private, it is especially appreciated by nudists due to its sheltered position. With large pebbles and strips of sand it is very well sheltered from the winds and is ideal for snokeling lovers due to its rock formations that hide a rich fish flora and fauna. Don't miss the cave church of Agios Stefanos within walking distance. Not equipped, it is all in its natural state.

Curiosity: according to historical evidence, the area of Galissas was inhabited since the eighth century BC and also included the small villages of Katacefal, Horafida, Agia Paku, Kaveirini and Halepa. Its name owes it to the king Prineus the Gallisios who settled giving life to the village.

How to get to Galissas Beach

Simple, heading south west following the main road leading from Ermoupolis and then detour following the road signs to Galissas. Better to have your own vehicle so as to be completely independent, perhaps combining other places to visit.

Put it on the list of things to do in Sysros, it will be a day based on sun, sea, fun and relaxation, what more could you ask for?
