Azolimnos Beach Syros

Azolimnos Beach, we find it in the southern part on the east coast of the beautiful Syros Island just five kilometers away from the capital Ermoupolis.

It is the city beach of the homonymous village that develops just behind the beach made of soft golden sand, clean and crystalline waters, a turquoise and intense blue sea that only in Greece can be found, a seabed that descends slowly for the first few meters therefore perfect for families with children and to spend a wonderful day at the beach. Every year it is awarded the Blue Flag for the quality of its services and for the still uncontaminated nature.

The Azolimnos beach surrounded by providential tamarisk trees that during the hottest hours provide shade and a moment of pause where you can even indulge yourself in the arms of Morpheus, is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas. Some small areas are instead free and you can spread out your beach towel and enjoy so much magnificence as a gift from Mother Nature.

As for the restaurant, you will be spoiled for choice, there are many typical taverns where you can taste excellent dishes based on fresh fish and classic Greek or local cuisine, bars where you can stop for a cool drink or a coffee, small shops that sell everything from nice souvenirs to necessities, in short, it will not be difficult at all to organize and spend unforgettable hours. Also with regard to accommodation if you decide to choose the Azolimnos village for your holiday in Syros, you will find different solutions suitable for all budgets, the only recommendation we allow you to make is to book as soon as possible as the availability is very limited given the size of the country.

Azolimnos beach has three small piers where diving enthusiasts can have fun exploring the deep blue waters of the Aegean. There are several diving centers that offer their services to dedicate themselves to this fascinating activity.

For a moment of pause, take a tour in the village perhaps going to visit the small but attractive Analipsi church (in Greek means Resurrection) one of the two Catholic chapels present in Syros where on Trinity Sunday for two days very heartfelt celebrations are honored by the inhabitants and the faithful of the nearby islands with a touching procession where at the end apple dumplings are offered, while the next day a religious festival is organized based on excellent local and traditional food with folk songs and dances on the shores of the sea.

Or go to the Mana village less than four kilometers inland considered one of the largest Syros villages. With about a thousand inhabitants, it has small and picturesque houses embellished with lively flower gardens and where there is the greatest concentration of greenhouses and fields cultivated mainly with vineyards. Since there is another village on the island called Mana, the word Kato is added which in Greek means down 'just to distinguish it from the other which instead takes the name of Ano Manna. Pay a visit to the Catholic church of Metastasis Theotokos where a wonderful Panagyria is organized on the 15th of August.

From the Azolimnos beach you can see one of the most beautiful sunrises on the island and on particularly clear days you can see Mykonos and Tinos islands.

It is very easy if you have your own transport from wherever you will be staying during your holiday in Syros just head south east and follow the road signs for Ermoupolis and then proceed towards Azolimnos.

If you are not independent, a bus service from the capital will take you to the beach every day. Consult the timetable as usual.
