Kastani Beach Skopelos

Kastani beach is located in the southwestern part and is considered the most famous of all Skopelos Island. It is about fifteen kilometers from the capital Skopelos Town.

Its notoriety is certainly due to the now cult film "Mamma Mia" with the soundtrack of the legendary Abba, as some of the most famous scenes such as the one in which Sophie and Sky sing "Lay all your love on me" or when they leave the island singing "I have a dream", and finally the scene of Tanya with "Does your mother know" in the background makes fun of a young man who would like to spend a few hours with her, they were shot on this beautiful beach.

Kastani beach has a narrow coastline of soft white sand, clear and transparent waters so much that it looks like a natural swimming pool, a sea of a thousand shades of blue with shallow waters perfect for families with children and for swimmers who do not want to give up. to a fresh and therapeutic swim. All around a rich and green vegetation of trees that almost touch the shore and that give a providential shade especially in the hottest hours when it is almost impossible to stay under the sun.

Once it was quiet and not very popular with visitors, but as soon as the film came out it became one of the main destinations if for a holiday in Greece you decided to visit the Skopelos island, becoming very crowded and in the afternoon also quite noisy given the beach bar behind that is filled with young people and not for the canonical aperitif, but to admire the beautiful sunset and then continue with wild dances until the first light of dawn.

It is equipped with sun beds and umbrellas for around € 8 per day, free showers and a bar where you can find something fresh to drink and both quick snacks and full dishes of classic Greek cuisine. For those who want to stay in close contact with Nature, a part of the beach is completely free so you can decide to put your beach towel where you will feel most inspired and maybe take a nap under one of the many trees that surround it.

Snorkelers can have fun discovering the underwater mysteries on the right side near the reef where there are also some pretty caves and small coves where they can stay in complete solitude. You can also take advantage of the boat excursions that depart from the Skopelos port or from the nearby Skiathos Island to get to the Kastani beach the only negative will be that you will land right at rush hour when there is more crowding and therefore you will not be able to enjoy full of this wonderful corner of Skpelos. If you want to breathe a more relaxed and almost noiseless air, we recommend that you come very early in the morning.

For the more romantic, do not miss the sunset time when the sky and sea are tinged with warm amber colors, perhaps with a nice walk on the water's edge.

Also noteworthy is the wonderful view that you can see climbing the promontory that divides the Kastani beach from the Milia beach, another pearl of the island where you will have a view that will leave you speechless

Once in Panormos, continue until on the left you will see the sign indicating the beach and after a small descent you will reach the parking lot where you can leave your vehicle.

For those who have decided not to drive for their holiday in Skopelos, there are public transport that from the major tourist resorts arrive about five hundred meters away from the beach and then reach it with a short walk from the top through a dirt road.Last chance by sea.
