Limnonari Beach Skopelos

2 minutes to read

The small and wonderful Limnonari Beach, we find it in the southwest part of the Skopelos Island about nine kilometers from the capital Skopelos Town and less than two from the Agnondas village third port of the island used when weather conditions do not allow ships and to the ferries to dock in the other two.

Enclosed in a beautiful bay, it has a coast of sand mixed with clear pebbles, transparent and crystalline waters, a sea that goes from blue to turquoise with emerald shades (thanks to the reverberation of the surrounding landscape), with a seabed that drops quite rapidly and which has several boulders so it is better if you bring rock shoes so as not to slip and risk hurting myself compromising your holiday in Skopelos.

The scenery that surrounds the Limnonari beach is something idyllic, high hills dotted with rich vegetation, cliffs on the sides that shelter it from the winds, it is in fact one of the most suitable places on days when Eolo gets up on the wrong foot and begins to blow becoming quite obnoxious. An expanse of olive and pine trees that reach almost to the shore where it is also possible to find some hammocks and enjoy a regenerating nap, give the environment an almost heavenly flavour. Snorkelers shouldn't forget their fins and mask to have fun discovering the magical underwater world.

Limnonari beach is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas, some for a fee at a cost of around € 6 a day, others free but with the obligation to consume. As for catering, you will find a typical tavern where you can enjoy excellent fish dishes and fresh products from the classic Greek and local cuisine and something fresh to drink, as well as a beach bar that will brighten your day with music and have something fast and light to appease stomach rumblings.

Curiosity

According to legend, his name comes from the Greek God Aris son of Zeus and Hera the God of war who arrived on the Skopelos Island right here and was completely enchanted by it. Another story instead gives it the name because given its optimal location it always has a completely flat sea so as to look like a lake (in Greek Limni means precisely lake).

How to reach Limnonari Beach

As always, you will have more possibilities to get to this wonderful cove. The most comfortable with your own vehicle, car or scooter or why not even by bicycle if you are a sporty person. Then head southwest following the main road and the signs. Upon your arrival there is a small free car park.

The second option, perhaps the most beautiful, is on foot. A scenic route through a panoramic path which is located near the village of Agnondas and which leads to Panormos, will lead you to a truly spectacular landscape overlooking the sea and with breathtaking views.

The last alternative is by sea. From the port of Skopelos Town and Agnondas every day especially in the summer you can find small boats that will take you and pick you up.

For a day in complete relaxation, in contact with a nature that is still wild and intact, the beach of Limnonari is certainly ideal, therefore to be listed among the things to see in Skopelos.
