Velanio Beach Skopelos

Velanio beach, we find it in the southeastern part of the Skopelos Island about five kilometers from the capital Skopelos Town and just after the Stafilios beach.

A marvelous bay surrounded by a thick vegetation of verdant pine forests and high mountains that shelter it from the winds that usually blow on the Greek Islands, it has a wide coastline of clear sand mixed with pebbles, clear and transparent waters, a sea with a thousand shades of blue with depths that descend slowly for the first few meters from the shore.

In reality, if we really want to be picky, Velanio beach is divided into two parts and therefore offers two sections to spend a wonderful day at the beach. One is characterized by gravel and small stones where you will find sunbeds, umbrellas and a tavern where you can taste the dishes of Greek and local cuisine as well as find something refreshing to drink. The other one, divided from the previous one by two large boulders, is completely wild and left in its natural state. Here lovers of naturism love to gather so much that the beach of Velanio is the only one to be recognized and granted on the Skiathos Isandl for practicing nudism. The beach is soft sand like the seabed and therefore very comfortable for entering the water.

On the right side of the coast, a cave to be discovered where water drips from the rocks on the edge and which housed the baths in Roman times.

The beauty of the landscape is almost reminiscent of the tropics, where the flora truly gives its best, making the environment comfortable and ideal for enjoying hours dedicated to the sea, sunbathing and relaxation. The moment of sunset is one of the shows that Mother Nature still gives us not to be missed, the view and the colors that the sky, the waters and the whole scenery take on are something unimaginable, you must necessarily come here and enjoy it in its magnificence.

For a break during the hottest hours of the day, you can go and visit the archaeological finds just above the beach. You can admire the ruins of the palace of the Minoan King Stafilos, the remains of his royal tomb in which objects of great value that belonged to the sovereign were found such as weapons, vases, a stupendous sword probably of Stafilos and gold jewels. Furthermore, an ancient settlement emerged on the promontory following some excavations.

On the edge of Velanio beach, when the sun sets and it is not crowded by tourists, you can see the goats that go down from the pasture to the shore to drink.

Certainly on foot coming from Stafilos beach. Velanio beach is located exactly after a rocky promontory which divides it from the other coast. Just follow the path for about five hundred meters and you will be there in about ten minutes.

With a rental vehicle instead head south-east following the main road and road signs.

If you are not independent, you can take advantage of the daily public buses that reach Stafilios from the main tourist resorts and then continue with a short walk.

Whether you are a nudism lover or not, Velanio beach deserves to be included in the list of things to see in Skopelos, a unique and luxuriant environment where you can spend a relaxing day at the beach.
