Getting around in Skopelos
Skopelos is larger than the island of Skiathos, covers an area of about 97 square kilometers and its shape is long and narrow.
You can visit during your holiday in Greece as many as 360 churches with a particular legend that revolves around them. According to local rumors, when there was the disastrous catastrophe of Asia Minor in 1921 with the defeat of the Greek army with the Turks, the Greek inhabitants in Turkey threw all the sacred icons into the sea to prevent them from being destroyed as they were not of religion Muslim. The images wandered floating in the Aegean until they reached the coasts of Skopelos where the inhabitants collected them and a church was erected in honor of each icon.
An island blessed by God, where its nature is still in its original and uncontaminated state, where time passes slowly and offers moments of relaxation to rest body and mind. Despite all this tranquillity, however, one does not get bored in Skopelos, the nightlife, even if not exaggerated and transgressive, exists, in a much more calm and even sophisticated form, we might add, you can take beautiful walks along the paths in the middle of the bush and find hidden corners, or relax on one of the beaches and enjoy the warm sunrays.
Getting around Skopelos is easy and as always you can decide how.
Bicycle: if you are a cyclist, Skopelos is perfect! You will be able to reach places that you will remember for a lifetime while also keeping yourself in shape, so even eat an extra fry, it will take very little to get rid of it!
Car: always the most comfortable way especially to get to some beaches not served by public transport. The only problem is the parking... there aren't many and those few are also limited but do you want to put the possibility of loading the impossible into the trunk?
Scooter: for limited budgets or just to feel more free and not go crazy for parking, which is not a small thing on vacation, it's ideal. You can reach every place without having to travel long distances and arrive already tired. The middle quad, much loved especially by young people, is not really essential as there are few dirt roads but if it is in your wishes it is fine too.
Public transport: a good solution and the public service is also well served. It does not arrive everywhere but in most of the destinations to be included in your travel program excluding Agios Ioannis and towards the most remote monasteries. The solution? Rent scooter or car only for a few days.
Boat: choose between taxi boats or day trips organized by gulets and tourist agencies in Skopelos, the decision is yours.
