Xanamenos Beach Skiathos

And here we are at Xanemos beach, perhaps the most photographed and viewed on the island of Skiathos. It is located in the north-eastern part not far from the capital which is just three kilometers away and remarkably close to the airport (later you will understand why it is the most immortalized...)

Located in the large bay that includes the capital in the Kefalas area, it is one of the few that is still extremely wild and intact. A coast made of small stones mixed with sand, clean and clear waters, a blue sea tending to turquoise with depths that go down quite quickly so if you are with children or inexperienced swimmers, be very careful.

Given its completely open position, on days when the Meltemi, the fresh north wind that usually appears for a few days a month on the Greek Islands, blows over Skiathos, it makes the waters quite rough with the formation of some waves, so if you don't you are a fan of Eolo and the air bores you, before taking a trip to the beach of Xanemos check the weather conditions in order to avoid a useless journey and a waste of time that can be used to visit some other area of the island more suitable for your needs.

It is completely unequipped, here no sunbeds and umbrellas, on the contrary, if you have delicate feet, we recommend wearing rock shoes and an inflatable mattress to lie down in the sun. On the other hand, not being very busy given the lack of comfort, you could really enjoy a wonderful day at the beach as it is not very crowded and very quiet and relatively silent. For something to eat and fresh to drink, a small canteen right next to the beach will be able to feed you and give you refreshment. If you prefer DIY, be aware that you will have to bring everything you need because minimarkets or shops are not found up to Skiathos Town.

You read correctly we wrote relatively silent because the peculiarity of Xanemos beach and the reason why it is very famous with photos and videos is its close proximity to the airport. Most people come here to capture the flights landing as the runway is very adjacent to the beach and the vehicles pass right over your head so that it seems almost possible to touch them with your hand. Obviously the noise is powerful for a few moments but the experience is unique!

From Xanemos beach you also have a wonderful view of another pearl of the Sporades archipelago, the green and fantastic island of Skopelos that you can go and visit in the day with one of the ferries that touch the Skopelos island at different times and which also connect it to the Alonissos island.

For a moment of break from the warm sunrays, you can take a leap into the surrounding area where the ruins inherent to a settlement of the prehistoric period have been discovered and do some further artistic culture.

If you are good walkers on foot passing by a steep hill, and finally with a public bus that will take you to the beach in ten minutes from the capital.

If you want a moment away from the confusion and mass tourism, Xanemos beach must be one of your things to see in Skiathos, perhaps just for a bath and a plane that suddenly caresses your hair.
