2 minutes to read

We find Troulos beach in the southeastern part of the Skiathos Island about nine kilometers away from the capital Skiathos Town and less than three kilometers from Koukounaria beach.

Wedged in a large and beautiful bay that shelters it from the winds, the Troulos beach, the city coast of the village of the same name, presents itself with a long expanse of soft golden and white sand, clean and crystalline waters, a sea that fades from blue to turquoise with a gently sloping seabed ideal for families with children where the little ones can splash around and have fun until they drop while the adults relax peacefully under an umbrella.

Lush vegetation made up of pine trees and fragrant Mediterranean scrub surrounds the entire Troulos beach, making it the perfect environment for a relaxing day at the beach. It is partly equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas for more or less €8 a day, while for do-it-yourself lovers there is a free area in the central part where you can choose the most suitable place and hang out your towel. As for the shade, don't worry, the thick trees that reach up to the beach will be able to give you refreshment and shelter during the hottest hours. In the served part there is also a lifeguard who watches over the bathers for safe bathing.

As for catering, you will have various choices, you can opt for a complete lunch at the ancient tavern that has been present for over forty years where you can enjoy excellent fresh fish dishes or classic Greek cuisine also made up of local recipes to be discovered, or if you want to stay lighter there is a beach bar that offers quick snacks and fresh drinks. Just behind the beach of Troulos is the village with a few shops, classic taverns and bars where you can hang out late in the evening. To stay in this area you will find apartments, hotels and a resort.

Sports enthusiasts can fill their days on Troulos beach while also maintaining their physical shape with long kayak paddles or rent boards to have fun playing paddle. For those who love to explore the seabed, a lively marine fauna and flora awaits you in the bay of Troulos beach so remember to bring a mask, snorkel, fins and an underwater camera with you to immortalize the inhabitants of the abyss.

Given the extraordinary nature and the perfect conservation of the coast as well as the excellent services offered, Troulos beach is awarded the much desired and prestigious Blue Flag title every year.

It is also possible to visit the stupendous coves in the area by renting a boat or with the taxi boat service which can take you to places that can only be reached by sea where you can discover corners that will leave you breathless. You can also take advantage of a visit to the Monastery of Panagia Eikonistria which is located on the road towards Koukounaries founded in the 17th century and dedicated to the Presentation of the Virgin Mary as well as patron saint of the Island of Skiathos. For those who like walking, there are beautiful paths that pass through the area, such as the one to reach Aselinos beach which takes about an hour.

Curiosity

It owes its name to the wild Troulonis islet which is located right in front of the beach which in Greek means dome due to its curious shape that looks like a cap. The more adventurous can also get there by swimming up to its rocky cliffs.

Another curiosity: some of the scenes of the legendary movie Mamma Mia were filmed in Skiathos in particular from the tower of the church of Agios Nikolaos the sequence in which Sophie decides to send the wedding invitations to the three male protagonists who have had a history in the past is set of love with the mother and among which should be his father.
