Aselinos Beach Skiathos

2 minutes to read

And here we are at the beautiful Aselinos beach in the northwestern part of Skiathos Island about thirteen kilometers from the capital Skiathos Town.

Enclosed in a spectacular rocky bay where nature is still unspoiled and wild, it actually includes two coasts, one called Megalo Aselinos (Megalo in Greek means large) as it is more extensive and one called Mikri Aselinos because it is smaller.

Surrounded by the green and luxuriant Kounistra mountain where there are endless pine forests with trees that reach the shore, despite its position it always has (especially in the afternoon and when the north winds blow) an almost always rough sea that forms waves therefore not really suitable for families with children.

The beach looks like a long expanse of light coarse-grained sand mixed with pebbles, transparent and clear waters with shades of blue and a seabed that descends very quickly, perfect for lovers of long swims, always if the wind is not present. 'Aegean somewhat rough.

It is largely equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas at a cost of € 8 more or less per day while as regards catering, there is a large tavern where you can find fresh drinks, classic Greek and local cuisine rather than quick snacks. . There is no trace of water sports, at Aselinos beach, you come to spend a quiet day at the beach and enjoy a lot of benevolence on the part of Mother Nature.

Two words regarding the Mikri Aselinos beach (Mikri in Greek means small), secluded and definitely with a calmer sea and waters of a thousand shades where you can enjoy a regenerating bath. It is not equipped with sun beds and umbrellas but even here a typical Greek tavern will satisfy your palates. You will find it further north than its bigger sister on the road leading to Kechria beach and Ligaries beach right on the path that also leads to Panagia Eikonistrias Monastery. It should be emphasized that the last stretch is completely unpaved but in any case with a little attention it can be easily covered.

Anselinos beach, on the right side, is almost always frequented by lovers of naturism, in fact it won't be difficult to find people who enjoy the warm sunrays like mum made them.

The imposing mountain that surrounds the beach like a tender embrace always offers a light breeze, a real godsend during the hottest periods of the year.

In the afternoon, Aselinos beach gets much more crowded than in the morning as on the Skiathos Island there are many tourist agencies that organize day trips that stop here, usually pouring many people between 13.00 and 15.00 to enjoy the beach and have lunch in the large tavern. Do not worry, however, because given the vastness of the beach there is room for everyone without the danger of being one on top of the other.

How to reach Aselinos Beach

Again three possibilities. The most comfortable with your own vehicle from the main road and then following the road signs.

The second by sea, perhaps by relying on the daily excursions that are organized every day during the high season.

Third and last way on foot. If you like walking, you can let the public bus drop you off at stop number 18 and from there continue north. Pay attention to the timetables and above all to be well equipped with suitable shoes and water since you will be under the sun.

Aselinos beach deserves to be included in the path of things to see in Skiathos because it is truly an enchanting place with an almost exotic landscape where you can enjoy romantic walks and maybe a good dinner overlooking the sea.
