Agia Paraskevi Skiathos

2 minutes to read

The beautiful beach of Agia Paraskevi also known as Platanias beach, we find it in the southwestern part of the island of Skiathos about eight kilometers from the capital Skiathos Town.

Located in a splendid bay, it has a long coastline surrounded by providential trees that give natural shade during the hottest hours, soft dark gold-colored sand, clean and transparent waters, a turquoise sea with seabeds that gently slope down so as to attract many families with small children and lovers of long and relaxing swims.

It is very well equipped with several beaches to choose from to spend a wonderful day at the beach where you will find sunbeds, umbrellas, showers, toilets and all possible comforts for a relaxing holiday in Skiathos. For those who want to stay fit even in the summer, the beach of Agia Paraskevi offers many water activities such as water skiing and fun jet skis to challenge your family or old or new friends cheerfully.

As for catering, you are spoiled for choice. In fact, the village of the same name develops behind it, which over time has changed from a simple fishing village to a charming tourist resort sought after by many travellers. The town extends into a large valley with a stream that flows throughout the year and its architecture reflects the typical villages of the Greek coast with low houses decorated with colorful flowers, tall poplar trees where you can find refreshment and relax. There is no shortage of classic taverns where you can savor the typical and local dishes based on seafood and very fresh fish, trendy restaurants, idle cafés where you can meet the locals and be told fantastic stories of the island, shops for shopping, souvenir shops for perfect gift, and nightclubs to pull up at the crack of dawn. Even in terms of accommodation, the area is full of alternatives ranging from simple rooms for rent to apartments, small hotels and luxury boutiques where you will feel like real Kings and Queens. In short, nothing is missing, on the beach of Agia Paraskevi you can have everything at your fingertips with excellent and modern services.

Many visitors decide to stay here for their holiday in Greece rather than in the more lively capital Skiatos Town as the atmosphere despite the flow of people is important especially during the summer period still manages to be friendly and familiar.

Being very popular, it is often very crowded so if you want a little more tranquility you can choose two other small beaches nearby or decide to rent a boat independently and coast along the sea in search of coves where maybe there is only you. Even walking enthusiasts will have some paths available to follow through the valley and reaching the bay of Kechria with its stupendous beach (for some the most beautiful in Skiathos) with crystal clear waters and fine soft sand and its ancient Monastery of Panagia Kechrias.

Curiosity

the village and the beach take their name from the small stone church surrounded by a luxuriant garden and in the shade of secular trees which almost seem to protect it with their gigantic branches. Every year on July 27th a great feast is celebrated with panagiria attached in honor of the saint where you can enter directly into the spirit of the Island of Skiathos with dances, songs and popular cuisine based on delicious dishes and rivers of local wine. Not to be missed!

Another curiosity concerns the swans who regularly come ashore and it will not be difficult to see them at all. Be careful when you approach them because they are known to be animals as beautiful as they are aggressive..

How to get to Agia Paraskevi beach

It's very simple, just follow the main road south and the road signs towards Agia Paraskevi.

If you don't have your own vehicle, you can always rely on the public bus rides that arrive here from Skiathos Town and the major seaside resorts. As always, pay attention to the timetables that can change according to the seasons and to be able to better organize your trip out of town.

A stop to be included among the things to do in Skiathos for an unforgettable day of fun and a fabulous sea.
