Vlychada Beach Santorini

2 minutes to read

The particular Vlychada beach is located exactly in the southern tip of Santorini Island about fifteen kilometers from the capital Fira and not far from Agios Georgios beach.

The feature that differentiates the Vlychada beach from the others is the imposing cliffs behind the candid white pumice stone with bizarre shapes created by the erosion of the wind and the saltiness. The coastline, protected from the winds, extends for eight hundred meters and has a beach of small pebbles mixed with gray sand, bathed by transparent waters and an intense blue color. The seabed drops heavily and becomes unsuitable for families with children but rather perfect for experienced swimmers and snorkelers where a large amount of colorful marine species will be a magnificent experience and discovery. The unusual and lunar-looking landscape has given it the nickname "Moon Beach".

It is equipped only for a part called Theros and the availability due to its small size is very few so if you want a day in comfort with a sun bed and umbrella, it is better if you go early in the morning. Near the small port, a snack bar for something to drink or quick to eat. Also in the splendid bay an ancient stone and wood tavern still original where you can taste traditional local dishes and fresh fish. An excellent location also for an aperitif at sunset, the most beautiful sight that Santorini can offer its visitors, considered among other things one of the best in Europe.

Vlychada beach is generally quiet apart from the high season but on the other hand where in summer it is possible to be completely alone, however if you walk on the shore, you will arrive in a stretch where there is no trace of civilization, no parasols or only natural deck chair and silence. Here 'is the favorite place of naturists where they can express their lifestyle without taboos. Wonderful for a sunny day with only the sound of the sea and the wind.
