Perivolos Beach Santorini

2 minutes to read

We can say that Perivolos beach is the natural continuation of Perissa beach practically with a walk on the shoreline of about ten minutes you arrive, but despite that they have differences that give very distinct personalities. Perivolos is always located on the southeast side of the Santorini island and we are about seventeen kilometers from the capital Fira. In reality there are no indications that delimit the end of one and the beginning of the other, you can understand this from the quality of the services.

Definitely much more glamorous and sophisticated than Perissa, in the Perivolos beach, you can find places especially for the much more chic and refined nightlife where international DJs animate the night with parties to remember over the years and electronic music is always at the forefront . Beach bar with a contemporary design such as the JoJo, the Sea Side Lounge and the Taj Mahal, well-spaced sunbeds and umbrellas, sometimes free with the only requirement of at least one drink, typical taverns where you can enjoy excellent Greek cuisine and restaurants with menus it is also a gourmet where to satisfy the taste buds. Perivolos unlike Perissa, in the evening it is not closed to traffic with the consequence of becoming a bit chaotic and not exactly ideal for families with children but certainly optimal for young people looking for a crazy evening.

The long coast is made of dark black sand much more intense than the other beaches, one more reason to wear slippers especially in the hottest hours (for this reason there are many wooden walkways that lead to the shore) and avoid burning your feet. For years it has been awarded the Blue Flag for its clear and transparent waters, with an intense blue, with depths that descend very quickly, therefore being 'dangerous for the little ones' and for those who are not an expert swimmer. However, snorkelers and divers will find here a fantastic underwater world to explore given Mother Nature's benevolence with marine flora and fauna. For those who do not just love sunbathing and want to keep fit even on vacation, there are many opportunities for water sports ranging from jetski, paragliding, beach volley. When the wind blows, the beach of Perivolos becomes a popular destination for kitesurfing and windsurfing sports where they can compete in acrobatic jumps in the amazement of those present.

Despite all this, however, Perivolos beach remains a small oasis of peace perhaps due to its dimensions that allow you to keep distances such as not to bother with each other. After Perivolos beach, another corner of paradise, Vlychada beach. About ten minutes away a small and characteristic village with traditional white houses with blue windows surrounded by trees that give that impression of a fairy village.

How to get to Perivolos Beach

As for the Perissa and Kamari sisters, head southeast and follow the road signs. From Perissa you can also go on foot if you want, from Fira instead there are daily buses, or a taxi which costs an average of € 25 each way.

At this point it is difficult to say which to include in the list of beaches to see in Santorini, they are one after the other, all fascinating and with their own peculiarities. So the choice is yours.
