Perissa Beach Santorini

2 minutes to read

Perissa beach is also located in the south-eastern area of Santorini island, about fifteen kilometers from the capital Fira.

Together with its lively village made up of small white houses perfect for families and also for young people, it is an area that offers all the possible comforts for a holiday in Greece full of relaxation and fun. The town offers its visitors a wide choice of hotels, landlords, apartments, several taverns where you can taste local and traditional Greek specialties, trendy restaurants, shops of all kinds and where to find the gift suitable for mothers, entertainment venues, bar and beach bar to spend a joyful day.

Perissa beach extends for seven kilometers, thus giving the possibility of not being right on top of each other apart from the high season when it is more crowded, with a shoreline of finer sand than the other mixed beaches in small black stones given its volcanic origins where it is better to wear shoes if you have delicate feet, bathed by a sea every year awarded by the Blue Flag for the clarity of its waters with iridescent blue colors, and a seabed which descends slowly for the first few meters until it immediately becomes deep due to its conformation given by the frightening eruption of the underwater volcano in 1600 BC.

Throughout the stretch of beach, bathing establishments equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas sometimes free with the only requirement of at least one drink, a varied choice of water sports to have fun with the family or with old and new friends, beach bars where wait for the spectacular sunset while sipping a colorful cocktail and then maybe dance until dawn with internationally renowned DJs in one of the wonderful parties that are usually organized during the summer. As we said before, the sea that bathes the Perissa beach is clear and clean, a real playground for snorkelling and diving lovers given the wealth of marine flora and fauna that has found its natural habitat here.

Perissa beach is separated from Kamari beach by Mount Vouno, from whose top it is possible to admire a splendid landscape over the whole island and where the finds of the ancient city of Fira are found. It can also be reached with a pleasant trekking path passing through the still intact and wild nature, or you can also reach the top with a vehicle. Continuing from Perissa you will find Perivolos beach which is its natural continuation.

How to get to Perissa Beach

Again, it is not difficult at all, just head south east to Emporio village and follow the road signs. Fira is about fifteen kilometers away and every day there is a bus service that reaches it on average every half hour. Always consult the timetables to make sure you don't get stuck. With a taxi we are also here about 20 € each way.

You could maybe do both Perissa and Kamari beaches on the same day, it is important that you put them on the list of things to see in Santorini!
