Monolithos Beach Santorini

2 minutes to read

Monolithos beach, just after Exo Gialos beach, we find it in the eastern part of the island of Santorini about two kilometers north of the lively resort of Kamari which also hosts a beautiful beach. The strip of coastline that connects Monolithos to Kamari is called Agia Paraskevi in the north, while Agia Perivolia at the south end.

A flat beach of small pebbles and black volcanic sand among the finest you can find in Santorini, bathed by a calm sea with clean, crystalline waters and colors that go from turquoise to intense blue, seabed that gradually slope down perfect for families with children where the little ones can safely play safely and also ideal for lovers of long swims.

Behind it spectacular rock formations sculpted by the wind and salt that as guardians watch over the sea very similar but less impressive than those of the Vlychada beach. Its name owes it to a large rock on which the picturesque church of Agios Ioannis was built to visit if you are for your day at the beach of Monolithos.

Monolithos is particularly suitable for families and sportsmen, as in the center of the beach there is a large sports park where you can play beach soccer, basketball and volleyball. At the northern end is a spot for water sports such as windsurfing, surfing and kite surfing.

In the northern part it is very well equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas, beach bar and a tower with lifeguard that controls the whole beach, where adults can enjoy the sea in absolute tranquility or have fun with family, old or new friends with a multitude. of activities to do.The southern area, on the other hand, more secluded and perfect for greater privacy and relaxation is free, you can spread your towel where you prefer, perhaps under one of the trees on the beach to naturally shelter in the hot hours. Services such as bars, cafes, typical taverns where you can enjoy excellent dishes based on fresh products of Greek and international cuisine are nearby and therefore convenient and easy to reach.

Unlike the nearby Kamari beach, Monolithos beach is much quieter, less crowded (obviously in the high season there are more people) and much loved especially by local families.

How to get to Monolithos Beach

It is truly child's play. If you have a rental vehicle, just head to the east coast and follow the directions. If you like to walk from Fira or Kamari it is a walk of about 20 minutes, instead if you are not independent you can always opt for the bus from the main tourist resorts by always checking the timetables or by taxi (for example from Fira it costs 15 € ).

If you are in the family above all, the beach of Monolithos is to be included in the things to see in Santorini, here relaxation, fun, crystal clear waters and the magic of the island are perceived very intensely, giving a sense of full bliss.
