Limnionas Beach Samos

2 minutes to read

The Limnionas Beach, we find it in the southwestern part of the Samos Island about six kilometers from Votsalakia and Marathokampos. A beautiful bay surrounded by hills of olive trees and green pine mountains at the foot of Kerkis Mount the highest peak of Samos.

In an idyllic landscape and believe us, the adjective is more than apt, with a coastline of soft sand on one side while on the other with the presence of small pebbles, the Limnionas beach presents itself with calm waters due to its secluded position and protected by clear and transparent slopes, a turquoise sea that fades to sparkling blue with seabed that descend slowly at the beginning making them perfect for families with children and for those who love to indulge in long and relaxing swims. We warn you that the water temperature even in the middle of August when the sun reaches high temperatures is always quite cold due to the currents that affect this stretch of the island but it is just a matter of seconds, it takes very little to acclimatize and work hard then to go out as far as you are comfortable immersed in the Aegean.

The Limnionas beach is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas at a cost of about € 5 for two people while to eat there is some typical tavern where traditional Greek and local dishes are offered with ancient recipes that will give you the opportunity to taste delicious dishes. Just behind, the homonymous village surrounded by greenery in the hilly area, you will find some accommodation such as small hotels and apartments in case you decide for your holiday in Samos to stay on this part of the island, some taverns and restaurants and two small minimarkets where to find the necessary also to be completely independent.

The beauty of this area is that not only the sea is the protagonist, the Limnionas area is a much sought after destination for those who love trekking and long walks to discover the area. There are several trails that will take you to the villages of Agia Kyriaki, Paleochori and Moni Agios Ioannis Elimonas. One in particular that extends for about a couple of kilometers and a half, will lead you to a wonderful tavern called "Taverna at the end of the world" and the name already makes you understand something through a landscape of wild nature where the scent of oregano and wild chamomile will inebriate your senses passing through old olive trees and Mediterranean scrub bushes.

On the left side you will have the sea with its cliffs and islets that magically emerge from the majestic Aegean and then rise above through a path and where on tense days you can also see the small but fantastic Fourni island. If you want to explore other coasts worthy of a stop, for example about three kilometers north of the Limnionas beach, you can arrive at the beautiful Psili Ammos beach a long beach of soft sand where olive trees and pines grow up to the shore. with a sea to leave you speechless.

Heading west instead through a dirt road, you will find the Chontros Kavo beach and Maskria Pounta beach, places much loved especially by lovers of naturalism given the privacy that they can offer for their remote and somewhat challenging position to reach

How to get to Limnionas Beach

First of all, you need to be independent and therefore have your own vehicle. Given the size of the Samos Island we always recommend the car, maybe a 4x4 even better so you can also reach corners where you will meet only very few people and have beaches only at your disposal.

Limnionas beach is to be included among the things to do in Samos, because the area reflects the atmosphere of ancient and authentic Greece, you don't come here for the nightlife, it is perfect for a relaxing and close contact with Mother Nature. A real shame to miss it!
