Kaladakia Beach

2 minutes to read

The small but characteristic Kaladakia beach can be found in the southwest part of the green Samos Island between the tiny Koumeika and Marathokampos villages.

Going south on the coast, at a distance of about eight kilometers the Votzalakia beach Kampos Marathokampos. A reduced pebble coast and in this regard if you have delicate feet we recommend the use of rock shoes hidden among the rocks, clear and limpid waters, a sea with a thousand colors of turquoise with a seabed that descends slowly but only for the first meters (after all like almost all the beaches of Samos) so if you are a family with children, pay extra attention. Kaladakia beach is equipped with paid sunbeds and umbrellas (cost more or less €8 per day), a typical tavern where you can taste the classic dishes of Greek and local cuisine and a bar where you can find something cool to drink during the hot days.

It is perfect for snorkelling or diving lovers as the rock formations on the sides which among other things give it a good shelter when the Meltemi (cool north wind) blows over the Greek Islands, are very interesting to explore, so remember to put fins, snorkel, mask and maybe a small underwater camera in your backpack to immortalize the inhabitants of the abyss.

Another attraction of Kaladakia beach are the stupendous caves that Mother Nature as a skilled sculptor has been able to create on the left end of the coast where the water as well as being transparent and crystalline takes on a blue-green color changing the shade according to the light.

Here you can have fun exploring it and enjoy an exciting swim going from a low passage to the sea. Given its small size, it is better to go to Kaladakia beach early in the morning, like before 10.00 if you want the comfort of a sunbed as it fills up very quickly especially in the summer when all visitors want to spend at least one day here.

How to get to Kaladakia Beach

First of all you need to be independent, given the size and the many things to visit on Samos, a car would be better. Keeping Karlovasi as a reference point, the direction to take is southwest via the main road following the signs for Marathokampos and Koumeika.

You will arrive at a sort of parking area where you can leave your vehicle and then continue on foot along a dirt path which will take you to your destination in a few minutes.

A beach that is starting to become popular so take advantage now that it has not yet been overrun by mass tourism and mark it among the things to do in Samos even if it is just for a quick swim in the beautiful cave that will reward you with its extraordinary beauty natural.
