Agia Paraskevi Beach Samos

2 minutes to read

The Agia Paraskevi Beach ((in Greek Holy Sunday)), we find it in the north-eastern part of the Samos Island, in the area of Nisi after Cape Kotsikas about eight kilometers from the city of Samos.

Wedged in a splendid bay just below the hill where the Chapel of the Profiti Elias is located, visible from the capital of Samos, it presents itself with a very thin strip of clear pebbles, clear and transparent waters, a blue and turquoise sea with depths that however go down a lot quickly therefore not really suitable for families with small children, on the contrary very interesting for lovers of long swims and snorkelers who absolutely must not forget a snorkel, fins and mask to explore the fauna and fish flora of the wonderful Aegean Sea. Facing the beach and bay at the tip of the Nissi peninsula are the Agios Nikolaos, Prasonisi to the west and Makronisi and Strongylo isalnd to the east.

Surrounded by rich vegetation with large trees, the Agia Paraskevi beach has a few free sun beds and umbrellas where you can sit for a nice day at the beach but being few, the rule is to arrive early to find free ones. In the unlikely event that you arrive and there are none, you can find your own corner where you can put your towel under a log to benefit from natural shade during the hottest hours.

As for the restaurant, there is a typical tavern close to the beach where you can enjoy fresh fish and seafood as well as classic Greek and local cuisine.

Behind the Agia Paraskevi beach, the homonymous village. Typical fishing village in this area also called Nissi (in Greek means island) for its peninsula and the islets in front, where you can find some really typical taverns, a couple of cafes and some accommodation if you decide for your holiday in Samos part of the island as a support point. A quiet and contemplative village with a beautiful church to the right of its small port where the boats of local fishermen and vacationers moor, surrounded by a row of cypresses and dedicated to Saint Paraskevi Pyatnitsa originally from Licaonia in Turkey who is celebrated on July 26 with a heartfelt celebration which you should not miss if you are a guest on the Samos island during your holidays in Greece.

If you want to explore the area further, you can move west and about a kilometer away you will meet the Ormos Bay with the Asprochorti beach, a natural inlet, or further on following a branch that leads to the left of the peninsula to reach Livadaki beach with its sandy beach, clean and crystalline waters with a gently sloping seabed perfect for families.

A further important stop is the Metochi of Zoodochou Pigis Kotsikas (Fountain of Life Monastery) which, however, can only be visited by appointment. Founded in 1756, it was only finished in the 19th century and stands in a very scenic wooded area on Mount Rabaidoni above a rocky plateau.

How to get to Agia Paraskevi Beach

It is very simple but it is necessary to have your own vehicle to rent, always better a car given the size of the Samos Island because public buses do not go this far.

Just take the main road to give you an idea it is a bit like a ring road from any area you will stay and follow the road signs towards the Nissi Peninsula.

Once you arrive at the Agia Paraskevi beach, a parking space behind the bay and before the church will be at your disposal for free where you can leave your vehicle.

If you are looking for calm, silence and an area still protected by Mother Nature, you must necessarily include the Agia Paraskevi beach and all its peninsula among the things to do in Samos, it will be a discovery and a very beautiful itinerary, which you will remember with immense pleasure.
