How to get to Samos

Samos is one of the islands closest to the coasts of Asia Minor and is located in the north of the Dodecanese archipelago. Unfortunately it is remembered because over the years it has been the arrival point for the immigration of peoples martyred by the holy wars and not for the beauty of its territory.

Here come only daredevils and travelers with a capital V who go beyond the "chatter" of the media that paint it as a dangerous no-man's land. Let it be clear that each one of his own holiday does what he thinks best but we feel like saying that it is really a shame to leave out Samos in a possible choice for a holiday in Greece.

Only one kilometer and two hundred meters separate it from Turkey between the Mykali strait and this proximity has greatly influenced the customs and traditions and also the language, so much so that some words even have Ottoman origins. Homeland of the scientist Pythagoras and mythologically speaking land that gave birth to the Goddess Hera where the remains of the important sanctuary dedicated to her are found today, it is an island unlike other Greek Islands where nature is luxuriant and one of the best known nectars in the world.

At times unspoiled and wild covered by eucalyptus trees and secular oaks, high mountains and a volcano the Samos Kerkis with a peak of 1440 meters perfect for hikers and from where you can admire a panorama that will leave you speechless, hidden coves, waterfalls, infinite vineyards, and more archaeological sites among the most important in the Hellenic world, more than a thousand monasteries and churches with blue domes and whitewashed whitewash to dazzle under the rays of the sun, and many wonderful beaches where you can relax and let yourself be lulled by the noise of the sea.

An almost unknown island but which offers many things to see and do for which you will be fascinated and thank yourself for having ventured to reach this part of Greece not yet besieged by mass tourism which is able to give so much.

Reaching Samos is possible both by air and by sea. As far as flights are concerned, the fastest method would not be so difficult, the problem is that there are few airlines that cover this route. A valid and safe alternative is to fly to Athens, there are many options from all over Europe and then take either an internal flight or a ferry.

As far as ferries are concerned, you must remember that Samos has three ports so based on where you have chosen your accommodation as a base point, choose where to get off.

If you don't have time problems, however, you can also consider getting to Mykonos with a flight (there are many for this destination) and then take the ferry which will take you to Samos in about three and a half hours.
