Kiotari Beach Rhodes

2 minutes to read

Kiotari beach is found in the southeastern part of the Rhodes island about sixty kilometers from the capital and twenty minutes of picturesque Lindos.

We are talking about a long coast (actually measuring five kilometers aligned on the coast with various beaches up to Gennadi) formed by a part of sand and a part of small pebbles, bathed by a sea with a slightly warmer temperature than the other areas of Rhodes, with a blue color and calm waters, typical peculiarity of this part of the island. The clarity of the sea every year rewards it with the Blue Flag and believe it all deserved. It is much loved by families with children where the little ones can have fun safely, for those who love to go for long swims and for snorkeling given the rock formations that host a rich marine fauna.

Let's say it's not a beach and an area where you can breathe the typical Greek air made of white houses and blue windows, on the contrary Kiotari today looks like a modern seaside resort where large All Inclusive chains have taken possession giving it an elegant face with shops high quality restaurants and all possible conveniences without taking away the beauty of Nature.

It is very organized with sunbeds and umbrellas mainly owned by the hotels but it also has traits for those who have not chosen an all-inclusive holiday. Water sports centers such as banana boats, paragliding and windusrf to brighten your days, restaurants and beach bars where you can have a drink or a quick snack rather than a hearty meal based on classic Greek or international cuisine. for a perfect day at the beach. For lovers of excursions in the homonymous village, excursions with glass bottom boats are organized to admire the Aegean seabed.

The nearby village is interesting for a break beach walk giving you the opportunity to visit the Metamorphosis To Sotiros church (Transfiguaration of Christ) built over the parts of an old temple with capitals from the early Christian era which inside presents icons of wood with gilded friezes, the 5th century Eftavimati church and the Koimis tis Thetokou church with beautiful 17th century frescoes. A curious thing that presents itself in the Kiotar villagei linked to the legends near the port in the southern part of the beach is a small hut of straw over a rock in the middle of the sea. It is said that the Kiotari inhabitants in the past built many small straw houses on the coast to make the village seem much larger and discourage the onslaught of pirates who sailed on the routes between the Aegean. The idea worked great enough to keep them away and avoid raids and destruction.
