2 minutes to read

The Kalathos Beach, we find it in the south-eastern part of the beautiful and rich in history Rhodes Island about seven kilometers from the enchanting Lindos village, which is worth at least a visit during your holiday in Rhodes.

A long coastline that stretches for more than four kilometers, a hundred meters wide, a truly large beach where even in the height of the tourist season you can enjoy a wonderful day at the beach in total tranquility and without overcrowding.

Its beach is made up of tiny pebbles that almost seem like sand but with the difference that if you have delicate feet it would be better to have rock shoes with you. The waters are considered among the most beautiful on the island, warm, crystalline and clear, the sea changes color passing from blue to blue with depths that descend slowly to the shore and then gradually become deeper therefore perfect for lovers long swims. For families with children it is ideal, the only precaution is to supervise the little ones when they enter the water as it remains low only for a few meters.

Kalathos beach is partly equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas at a price ranging from 5 to 12 € per day, while a large area is completely free so you can choose the place you like best and spread out your towel enjoying a idyllic landscape and with only the sound of the sea. As for the shade, a few trees here and there therefore 'during the hottest hours or you are among the first to arrive and conquer the sheltered corner or it would be better to bring a parasol.

Behind the Kalathos beach there is the village of the same name about a ten minute walk away, it offers some bars, a small supermarket where you can find the necessary for a DIY day, some typical taverns where you can sit and enjoy the delicacies of the cuisine Greek and local and some accommodation nothing more '. It is a fantastic destination for those looking for a holiday in Greece based on relaxation and a spectacular sea.

Thanks to its position, the Kalathos beach, which we remind you to be bathed by the Mediterranean Sea and not by the Aegean, is not subject to strong winds, on the contrary it is almost always very quiet and with a flat sea.

For sports enthusiasts, the coast offers some opportunities to keep fit or just to have fun. You can try your hand at water skiing, parachuting, the nice banana or try surfing or diving to discover the seabed.

To break up the day and maybe take a break from the sun, take advantage and take a stroll around the small village going to visit the church of Agios Ioannis from the Byzantine period or the rock church of Panagia where you can admire frescoes from the 12th century, and still the ancient stone mill and an altar from the Roman era. During the medieval period, the area of Kalathos was the agricultural part and where the pastures of the important city of Lindos were located.

How to get to Kalathos Beach
