Glyfda Beach Rodhes

2 minutes to read

The unknown Glyfada Beach, we find it in the southwestern part of the wonderful and historic Rhodes Island about seventy-two kilometers from its capital Rhodos Town near the remote area of Monolithos.

In a naturalistic context still intact, the Glyfada beach is surrounded by high rock formations covered by verdant pine forests that extend to the sea but which are not enough to protect it from the winds that usually blow strongly in this part of the Rhodes Island.

A coast of large pebbles and rocks often covered with algae due to the storm surges that are thrown during the night, a blue-green sea due to the reflection of the vegetation that surrounds it, clean and crystalline waters, depths that immediately become deep and therefore only suitable for expert swimmers, but irresistible for those who love snorkeling where they can have a lot of fun discovering the fauna and fish flora present in the area. Certainly a beach not for everyone, so much so that hardly anyone knows it, it does not fit into the stereotype of a beach loved by vacationers, but rather by those who love to explore and discover this large island with a thousand faces.

Obviously it is not equipped at all, on the contrary if you are full of courage and want to spend the whole day here we recommend rock shoes and a mattress to put your towel on unless you are the children or descendants of some fakir to lie down and be caressed by the sun. As for the restaurant, surprise of surprises, hidden among trees and rocks two taverns that offer excellent food and delicacies based on fresh fish and classic Greek or local cuisine as well as refreshing drinks.

Given its remote location it could also be that your phone has no field with the consequence of being completely isolated, but even here, as the Greeks teach us, do not worry, the solution is always found as a now almost disappeared public box that works however. only with a phone card so remember if you decide during your holiday in Rhodes to go this far in absolute nothingness to take precautions and buy one you never know...

Let's say that you usually come to Glyfada beach not just to spend a day at the beach but rather to eat in one of the two tavernas or to walk and explore the wild nature of Rhodes as an area completely ignored by mass tourism and therefore still in the its primitive and cruelly savage state. Certainly privacy and relaxation, perhaps to meditate, are certainly not lacking here!

How to get to Glyfada Beach

Despite being in an area almost considered lost and remote, it is actually much easier to get there compared to many other more famous and noble beaches of Rhodes.

The direction is southwest following the road that leads to Monolithos and to the Kritina village. After about six kilometers of paved and comfortable road, you will find a sign indicating the beach and you will have arrived, more comfortable than that.

It goes without saying that you have to be independent, better with a car given the distances because public buses don't have to pay for them.

One of the most secret and best kept places on the island therefore 100% deserving of being included among the things to see in Rhodes to be able to explore a little known area but which offers panoramas and landscapes to put in your luggage of the memories of your holiday in Greece.
