Lindos Beach Rhodes

2 minutes to read

In the opinion of many people, Lindos beach is one of the most beautiful on the Rhodes island and all of Greece, as well as the most famous.

We find it about forty-eight kilometers from Rodos Town, the capital in the south-east part. Nestled in the Agios Pavlos Bay of Saint Paul Bay, it is surrounded by a sea of crazy shades of blue, with the ancient Acropolis dominating the surrounding landscape from above. The myth tells that the name of Agios Pavlos (San Paolo) was given in honor of the apostle because he would have landed right there in 58 AD and where today we find a characteristic church much loved as a location for weddings. Its particular shape and the colors that Lindos beach gives to the visitor are unique and make this beautiful inlet that Mother Nature has given us is among the things to see absolutely during your holiday in Rhodes.

The coast is of fine golden sand with a clean and crystalline sea. The water is warmer than the other coastal areas and the shallow and gently sloping seabed is ideal for families with children or lovers of long swims.

Lindos beach is well equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas (the cost is around € 10 per day), games and water sports to have fun with your family or friends, and a great choice of bars, restaurants, typical taverns where taste the dishes of the classic Greek and local cuisine based on fresh fish. For those who do not want to weigh down with a lunch, there are several solutions for a quick and light snack on the beautiful Lindos beach.

Being very well known and sought after by tourists, at peak times it remains very crowded, so as always we advise you if you want to enjoy this small natural corner in peace, go early.

In addition to the beach, Lindos is also a location full of history. The beautiful Acropolis that overlooks the beach or rather the two beaches, the main one four hundred meters long and a smaller one on the side long center meters, is definitely worth visiting (the cost is around € 12 per person). In the Acropolis the most important archaeological site on the Rhodes isalnd you will find the Temple of Athena Lindia, the Church of Panagia and not least a breathtaking panorama especially at sunset. You can reach the Acropolis either through a suggestive stairway of three hundred steps, or on the back of a donkey (we honestly did not feel it ...) as at the foot of the promontory, there are animal renters at a cost of € 5.

How to reach Lindos Beach

Very easy! Or with your own vehicle following the road and the signs, you will arrive at a car park just two hundred meters from the beach and through the village with its narrow streets and typical maze full of souvenir shops and cafés where you can perhaps stop for a coffee, or by buses that arrive from the main villages of the island during the day, or even by sea or with a boat of your own property or with one of the many organized excursions (https://rizoscruises.gr/).

The island offers its guests a lot to see, but surely a jump to Lindos beach is to be included in the things to do in Rhodes.

Seeing is believing!
