Agathi Beach Rhodes

2 minutes to read

The Agathi beach also called Golden Beach, is located a short distance from the Haraki village a pretty fishing village, near the Feraklos Castle a majestic fort right on the top of the hill about forty kilometers from the capital Rodos Town.

Stuck in a characteristic inlet with gentle mountains behind it, it offers a postcard landscape and a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere.

The coast of soft gold-colored sand is bathed by a sea with turquoise and crystal clear waters.

Being surrounded by the mountains of the hinterland of Rhodes, it is sheltered from the winds and its seabed that descends slowly is certainly a perfect place for families where, the little ones can have fun and the adults enjoy the well-deserved rest in an idyllic and peaceful setting . As for all the most beautiful beaches of Rhodes, in the summer it is quite crowded so always the usual advice, go early in the morning to find the best location and spend a wonderful day.

The first part of the beach has a beach of very fine sand where you can "get breadcrumbs" as they say in Milan and is much loved by children who can play safely and freely.

Agathi beach is equipped with sun beds, umbrellas, showers, water sports where you can challenge friends, there are a couple of kiosks where you can stock up on fresh drinks and quick snacks and also typical taverns where you can have a lunch based on dishes local and Greek. A part exactly at the two ends is free, therefore if you opt for this solution, remember to bring something to protect you from the sun.

In the northern part of the beach it is possible to reach the famous caves which were presumed to have been the homes of the Yippie in the 60s because of the types of graffiti engraved and, where there is also a chapel carved into the rock in honor of Sant'Agata. Do not be surprised if in the area you will also find someone who makes camping free, the area lends itself to this type of experience in close contact with nature.

A decidedly wild landscape but with the comforts that do not spoil the surrounding environment. If you get tired of Agahti beach, in the immediate vicinity there is Haraki beach and the medieval of Feraklos Fortress used first by pirates as a support point and later by the Knights of St. John as a prison. In the evening, the ruins are illuminated by a play of lights that makes it very suggestive.

Definitely suitable for those who love long swims, laze and bask in the warm sun of the Rhodes island where on the right side of the beach, snorkelers can find an underwater world to discover and admire in the midst of the rock formations.

How to reach Agathi Beach?

Just follow the signs for Lindos to get to Archangelos and go straight up to the signs for Haraki / Charaki. On the left you will find a sign saying Golden Beach, continue on the dirt road to Haraki Castle and then go down to the beach where there is a parking lot.

Here is another idea about things to do in Rhodes, which you will have to put on your list during your vacation. I recommend you find a moment to see it is worth it.
