Meloi Beach Patmos

And now we come to my favorite beach on Patmos Island, Meloi Beach. We can consider it almost like the city beach of Skala as it is located just a couple of kilometers from the town center and is perfect for those who have chosen not to rent a vehicle for their holiday in Patmos.

A splendid horseshoe-shaped bay made of fine golden sand mixed with pebbles, crystalline and transparent waters, a sea that passes from the blue to the typical blue of Greece, a seabed that descends slowly where you can enjoy a fresh regenerating bath or a long swim. Rock formations on the west side are the playground for snorkelers.

Behind the long and narrow coast, tamarisk trees that provide shade during the hottest hours. The Meloi beach is not equipped at all, everything is in a natural and free state, you can decide to spread your towel where you will feel most inspired and enjoy a wonderful day of relaxation and idleness.

For something to eat or cool to drink there is no problem, just about fifty meters away an excellent traditional tavern still of the old ones where you can also taste local delicacies and Greek cuisine, all with a superb view facing the sea.

Given its location, Meloi beach always has very calm waters and therefore perfect for families with children. Not for nothing is it one of the favorite destinations for locals who enjoy a few hours of relaxation during the weekend or as soon as work is finished.

I love it particularly because it is wild and in the right hours like early in the morning or towards sunset it is not too crowded, especially at the first light of dawn this place is a panacea for the mind, only silence and the sound of the sea, a real own paradise.

Towards the end of the beach, you will find a plot of land where there are some nice donkeys now accustomed to the human presence who will come to greet you. Obviously I used to stock up on fruit every morning to share it with them and as a thank you they sometimes approached their sweet face giving me a tap as if to say thank you but above all you give me more?

The landscape surrounding Meloi beach is made up of rugged mountains with Mediterranean scrub shrubs and then the view is lost on the Aegean.

For those who are lucky and have a small boat or rent it, there is the possibility to moor it at the small pier but be careful because the water is very shallow.

If you decide to stay in Skala the best solution is on foot, it will be a beautiful walk to do.

The second alternative if you are not in Skala to sleep is with a car rather than a moped, there are many rentals in Patmos, we recommend Aris Rent a Car they have fair prices and above all they are of an exquisite kindness.

Third way to get to Meloi beach by public bus. From the main villages there are daily trips that reach Skala from where you can then reach it with a walk.
