Agrilovadi Beach Patmos

2 minutes to read

Agrilovadi beach, we find it in the southeastern part of the beautiful Patmos Ilsand about three and a half kilometers from the port of Skala on the road leading to the Kampos village.

A long strip of sand mixed with small pebbles with clean and transparent waters, a sea that varies from blue to turquoise, slowly descending seabeds perfect for families with children where adults can enjoy the warm rays of the sun and children have fun in total safety.

Nestled in a beautiful crescent-shaped bay, the Agrilovadi beach to its shoulder offers providential trees to shelter in the hottest hours and on its left coves where you can enjoy privacy and tranquility. The small coves can only be reached by sea, so you can rent a kayak and paddle towards paradise but be careful first of all there must be good weather and little wind, second you must take into account the sea currents that in this stretch of Patmos are sometimes very strong so you risk making a huge effort and maybe getting too far from the shore.

The Agrilovadi beach is well equipped, you can find sunbeds, umbrellas, many water sports such as pedal boats and many other activities to do together with the family or with old and new friends. As for the restaurant, a fun bar where you can find something fresh to drink or quick to eat, all seasoned with a serene and friendly atmosphere. If, on the other hand, you are used to having a complete lunch, the restaurant offers dishes based on fresh fish or traditional Greek recipes as well as ancient local flavors, with a wonderful sea view and a naturalistic context of all points.

Just in front of Agrilovadi beach is the Agia Tekla islet (Santa Tekla) which takes its name from its delightful church where on September 24th a real ritual is celebrated with a heartfelt Panagiri to which you must be invited remember this is very important, where music and choreography with ancient roots are of purely pagan and non-religious origin. The sense of Panagiri is not purely goliardic as most people think, but it is rather a means through which the natives affirm their cultural identity and belonging to the community. It is true in the end you end up with eating and drinking until you burst but its meaning is much deeper than just having fun. To reach the church of Agia Tekla, a fishing boat shuttles back and forth from Agrilovadi to bring the faithful to attend Vespers.

How to reach Agrilovadi Beach

Let's say first of all that you need to have your own vehicle, whether it's a car or a scooter, it doesn't matter. There are no public routes that go up here, so either opt for a taxi or the rental of two or four wheels otherwise it is impossible to get there.

Or rather, if you don't want to be independent but you are good walkers, you can also decide to reach it on foot nobody prevents you from it, it is certain that it is a beautiful and long walk but it can still be an excellent opportunity to explore and enjoy the wonderful that the island of Patmos is able to give.
