Santa Maria Beach Paros

2 minutes to read

The famous and noble Santa Maria beach, we find it in the north on the east side of the Paros Island in the large Plastira bay. Naoussa is less than five kilometers away while the capital Parikia is about fifteen.

The Santa Maria beach is one of the most popular during the summer for its excellent services and its size. Let's start by specifying that there are actually two coasts, the larger one called Santa Maria Surfing Beach with a beach of soft light sand, clear and transparent waters, a sea that goes from blue to turquoise with a bottom that descends slowly. in fact it is one of the favorite destinations for families with children where the little ones can play and get tired as if there were no tomorrow, while the adults can enjoy a well-deserved rest, perhaps with a colorful cocktail in hand.

It is super equipped, here you will find all the possible comforts. Sunbeds, umbrellas, beach bars, taverns and restaurants where you can enjoy fresh fish dishes and recipes of the classic local and Greek cuisine, places that offer a more international menu, a wide choice of water activities to have fun with your old and new friends, and finally a large and organized campsite that during the summer is filled especially with young people who have limited budgets but where they will certainly spend memorable moments. Fans of kitesurfing, surfing and windsurfing, almost all gather here at the Santa Maria beach as there are excellent spots where you can rent equipment and because the wind allows you to practice these types of sports when it blows. Even snorkelers will find the whole area very interesting to go in search of marine fauna and flora.

For those who want to stay in close contact with nature and have a little less confusion (even if in reality the large part being very large will not give you that suffocating feeling of being one on top of the other, certainly crowded and more requested but almost never claustrophobic), about a kilometer away, you can find the Mikri Santa Maria Beach (mikri in Greek means small). Here, too, fine white sand, crystal clear and clean waters with a crazy-colored sea and a gently sloping depth. The difference with the older sister lies in the fact that here everything is free and in the wild, no parasols or deck chairs rather than bars or taverns where you can find liquids and solids, so if your choice is this part of the beach, remember to bring everything you need to drink, eat and shelter from the sun. Alternative for supplies, a nice walk on the water's edge to the first hints of modernity.

How to reach Santa Maria Beach

If you are independent and have your own vehicle, from any part of the island you are staying, heading north east following the signs for the Naoussa village, then continue according to the road signs.

If you are not autonomous, however, you can take advantage of the public bus services that depart from the major seaside resorts and arrive directly at the beach.

Third possibility by sea. From the port of Naoussa, boats and excursions depart every day and go around here.A beach that is certainly very exploited and known, in the hottest periods of the very crowded season, but its beauty and its comfort are so great that it will make you forget the confusion and we challenge you not to take at least one dip.

However, to be included among the things to do in Paros, a quick visit even just for a drink and a bath is worth it.
