Molos Beach Paros

2 minutes to read

Molos beach, we find it in the southern part on the east side of Paros Island about seventeen kilometers from the lively resort of Parikia while the elegant Naoussa at fourteen.

Precisely wedged in a large bay between the hills of Kefalos and Antikefalos, it is near the Marmara village which takes its name from the ancient marbles used for the construction of the houses and churches of the village. Two words about Marmara which is worth a quick visit. At the entrance of the town you can admire the church of Taxiarchis dedicated to the Assumption with three bell towers all three different and different windmills as in the past but also today most of the inhabitants are dedicated to agriculture. The town is full of old houses and you can take a break in one of the small cafes or delight your taste buds in one of the traditional taverns offering local cuisine.

The hill of Kefalos south of Molos beach was a volcano millions of years ago and on its top is the church of Agios Nikolaos. From here the view is to be left speechless, on the clearest days, the horizon extends to the island of Ios. Reaching the top is not exactly that easy because it is quite steep but the effort, believe us, is absolutely worth it, you can see the bay of Naoussa to the north, Piso Livadi to the south as far as the Koufonisia island. Mount Antikefalos, on the other hand, is said to have been the ancient city of Yria now buried. Ancient pottery shops have been found by archaeologists in the area confirming the fact that in the past it was an urban center.

But let's get to the protagonist, the Molos beach. A small sandy coast, crystal clear and clean waters, an intense blue sea with a seabed that at times drops quickly while in some parts slowly enough to attract many families with children. Its open position, unfortunately, makes it subject to the north winds that when they are felt, gather sports enthusiasts such as kitesurfing, surfing and windsurfing who can have fun with the waves that are created and perform acrobatic jumps. Right in front of the Naxos Island visible so clearly that it seems almost to be able to touch it.

Molos beach is not equipped at all, comforts do not exist here, you only come to enjoy a boundless and unspoiled nature and for a day of total relaxation. Let's say that the large bay that hosts it is a succession of beaches such as Kalogeros beach famous for its therapeutic mud. For a respite during the hottest hours, salty cedar trees and wild junipers will give you the well-deserved comfort. So choose your seat, spread out your towel and remember to bring everything you need if you decide to spend the whole day there. On the beach of Molos the only sign of civilization is a small water sports center.

The whole area that includes the gulf is a Natura 2000 protected area so we recommend the utmost respect for Nature, avoiding leaving garbage around but having the common sense to collect your waste and leave everything clean.

How to reach Molos Beach

Direction south east, from the Tsoukalia village follow the main road to Marmara where you take the detour to Molos beach.

Better to have a rental vehicle so as to be completely independent. If you want from Naoussa there is a local bus which will drop you off about a ten minute walk from the beach.

A must to be included in the list of things to see in Paros for a day in complete tranquility and to stay in direct contact with Mother Nature.
