Kalogeros Bech Paros

2 minutes to read

Kalogeros beach is located in the south east part of the Kefalos promontory on the beautiful Paros Island. It is fourteen kilometers from the Naoussa village while the capital is seventeen from the sparkling Parikia.

A small quiet bay, surrounded by high multicolored rocks that protect it in a particular way from the winds that usually lash the Cyclades Islands, making it a perfect refuge to spend a wonderful day of sun and sea.

A narrow tongue of sand tending to dark given the volcanic origins of the island of Paros mixed with gravel, clean and crystalline waters, a blue and turquoise sea with bottoms that descend slowly near the shore becoming then deeper therefore ideal for lovers of long swims. The rock formations are instead an excellent opportunity for snorkelers who will be able to discover the mysteries of the underwater world.

Kalogeros beach is one of the most 'virgin and intact, here you can enjoy only the unspoiled nature nothing more', the human footprint has not yet arrived and we hope it never will, given its difficult position to reach it. It is not equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas or kiosks for catering, you have to bring everything you need independently in case you decide to stay there all day. However, if you want to take a break for a couple of hours, about two kilometers away is the small Marmara village where you can choose between typical taverns, a small supermarket and a few cafes.

The main feature of Kalogeros beach and one of the reasons why some visitors decide to venture here is the fact that its sands contain clay, a precious sediment believed to be miraculous for skin care. It won't be strange or difficult to see people completely covered in clay wandering around the beach, not only locals but also tourists are aware of this completely free open-air Spa.

But we must warn you about one thing you absolutely must know! Given its position, when the ferries pass, small waves are created, nothing scary, but quite annoying especially if you spread your towel right next to the sea shore, you risk that the wave motion will take everything away from you so stay back in a bit. and when you see a ship, be ready to clear everything as quickly as possible if it extends up to the shore.

The name Kalogeros, was chosen following a curious legend that revolves around the beach where it is said that a monk named Kalogeros, committed suicide by launching himself with a spectacular and let's face it also disturbing jump from a rock overlooking the Aegean. The reason for this extreme gesture is unknown, the fact remains that the beach was dedicated to him.

Less than five hundred meters to the south, there is the magnificent and equally wild Molos beach, which due to its characteristics is more suitable for families with children than the Kalogeros beach.

How to get to Kalogeros Beach

Head south east towards the Marmara village and then follow the detour towards Molos beach. From here you will have to continue along a dirt road.We recommend that you leave the vehicle in Molos and do it on foot. you say you will have arrived.

For those who have not opted for an independent solution, you can take the public bus to Marmara and from there walk a couple of kilometers to reach Kalogeros.

A stop to be included in the program of things to do in Paros, perhaps also combining the beach of Molos, in one of the most natural and intact parts of the island so much so that it is part of the Natura 2000 protected area.
