Paros

How to get to Paros

2 minutes to read

The beautiful Paros Island, we find it in the archipelago of the Cyclades Islands and is part of the golden rectangle together with the Santorini, Naxos and Mykonos.

Together with its sisters it is one of the most sought after destinations for a holiday in Greece thanks also to the maniacal attention of its inhabitants, who do everything to keep it clean and perfect to the point of sometimes seeming almost fake.

A mainly rocky island with its precious granite and marble, the latter famous all over the world which gave birth to immortal works such as the Venus of Milos, or the Nike of Samothrace as well as elements of the inimitable Parthenon of the Acropolis of Athens. Barren, burnt by the sun and mainly with little vegetation even if towards the inside it is completely green and fertile.

It is much loved by families for its one hundred and twenty kilometers of coastline made up of stupendous golden sandy beaches bathed by a sea of a thousand shades of blue, but also by couples and young people who in recent years have chosen a holiday in Paros for their maturity journey (the film Immaturi was actually filmed here and gave even more visibility to the island).

There are many things to do in Paros, like all the Greek islands, it also offers various opportunities that can satisfy even the most difficult of tastes. Do not miss the Church of Panagia Katapoliani called the church of a hundred doors, or Butterflies Valley, and again the famous beaches of Monastiri or the particular Kolymbithres beach or its wonderful villages where sometimes it seems that time has stopped.

Reaching Paros island is never directly you have to combine or two flights or flight + ferry.

Flight: Paros has a small airport where only internal Greek flights land. So first you need to decide whether to reach Mykonos, Santorini, Athens and even Thessaloniki with the difference that for the first two you will need to take the ferry while for the other two you can choose whether to fly internally or by ferry (Athens).

From Mykonos: definitely the closest to Paros. Journey times are up to an hour and a half

From Santorini: although further away, it is perhaps the best solution even if the times of your flights do not coincide with the ferry. Want to put a beautiful evening on the Caldera at sunset? Travel times get longer in a bit we're talking about three and a half hours.

From Athens with internal flight: for those who suffer from the sea, this solution is ideal.

From Athens by sea: from the port of Piraeus there are ferries that take you to Paros and the times range from two and a half to five hours.

From Thessaloniki with an internal flight: the least used but in our opinion it can be a very valid alternative as to Thessaloniki from all over Europe you can find flights at bargain prices at times. Take it into consideration.

From Paros it is also possible to connect to the other fantastic Aegean islands such as the small pearls of Donoussa, Schinoussa, Iraklia and Koufounissi which you absolutely must not miss!
