Plaka Beach Naxos

2 minutes to read

Plaka beach is located on the west side of the Naxos island about eight kilometers from the capital Chora.

The extension of Agia Anna beach is considered as they are located on the same coast and is of soft and fine white sand, bathed by a clean and crystalline sea that goes from blue to turquoise to blue to green according to the wind conditions. The seabed has stretches of rocks and large flat stones, but basically it is sandy and therefore very suitable for families with children.

Behind sweet dunes that surround it like a protective embrace making the landscape wild and unspoiled. For a stretch behind the dunes there are various hotels, bars and restaurants where you can stop to eat something during the day or for dinner.

It is a very quiet beach for those who love relaxation given its extension that allows you to stay away, but it also satisfies those who want all the possible comforts. In the northern part, it is very well equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas, bars for something to drink and taverns for eating and also a sports center where you can rent equipment if you want to try kitesurfing, windsurfing or jet skis. Heading south instead it is completely free so you can spread out your towel and enjoy in peace a magnificent day at the beach. If you want a mix of comfort without renouncing the peace, we advise you to go almost to the bottom of the beach where there are small kiosks with very few beds so those who arrive first better stay at a cost of about € 6 and with the possibility of having drinks and food at hand and again, you can take advantage of the Plakacafe' services such as the swimming pool by making a simple drink.

At the end of the beach almost at the end, instead just behind the dunes still a completely free and wild stretch very appreciated by lovers of naturism, where you can merge with nature and feel like a real Robinson Crusoe.

Arriving at the end of Plaka beach, there is the Orkos bay formed by small coves one behind the other, tendentially given the somewhat windy position and loved above all by surfers. If you decide to stop here, bring everything you need because there is nothing.

How to get to Plaka Beach

It is very simple and you can do it both if you have a vehicle just like a car or a scooter or by bus. In autonomy, just follow the road that runs along the beach which is unpaved and a little dusty but easily accessible. By bus if you want to stop in the north part, you have to get off at the first stop where the Tree brother Restaurant is located, while if you decide you want to stay in the central or south part, you have to get off at the second stop.

Plaka beach deserves to be included in the list of things to see in Naxos, you will spend a wonderful day in a still uncontaminated context and in close contact with Mother Nature all seasoned with a sea of spectacular colors and lots and lots of relaxation!
