Agia Anna Beach Naxos

2 minutes to read

The beautifu Agia Anna beach, is located about seven kilometers from the capital Chora in the west part of the Naxos island just opposite of Paros island.

It is actually the extension of the Agios Prokopios beach and it is a set of small coves divided between them by rock formations with a picturesque marina where fishermen boats or the more fortunate ones who own a boat dock and come to visit this wonderful strip of Naxos. Right next to the small pier, there is the Agia Anna church which gives the village its name and where on 25 July there is the famous religious ceremony called panegyri in honor of the Saint (do not miss it if you are for your holidays in Greece in Naxos) and just further down the Agios Nicholaos chapel where on 6 December an important festival is celebrated where seafood morsels are offered with raki with honey and herbs.

A shoreline of soft golden sand with clear, crystalline waters and a turquoise color that changes according to the light. The seabed descends gently and is ideal for lovers of long swims and for families with children only in the southern part as the northern part being more exposed to the wind often and willingly has waters a little rough and not exactly ideal for children but, a real paradise for windsurfers or kitesurfers who can have fun and perform spectacular stunts. Cedar trees surround the bay giving it an almost exotic flavor.

The homonymous village is just behind the Agia Anna beach and offers a wide choice of typical taverns and restaurants where you can taste dishes based on fresh fish products of the local and Greek tradition. Numerous accommodation facilities are present near the beach, thus spoiling the choice between hotels and apartments.

Agia Anna beach is very popular and consequently one of the most popular on the Naxos island. It has fully equipped sections while others are completely free. In the served part you can find sunbeds and umbrellas with prices ranging from 8 to 15 €, beach bars for a cool drink and taverns overlooking the sea and on the eastern side of the Paros island. In the free parts, however, there is nothing except a fantastic landscape where nature still intact and unspoiled will frame you.

One thing not to be missed is the walk from Agia Anna to Maragas or to the Agios Prokopios beach, perhaps at sunset when the sky and the sea are tinged with warm colors giving that sense of peace and lightness.

How to get to Agia Anna Beach

If you have your own vehicle that is a scooter or a car, follow the paved road towards the west and from there the directions. If you are not autonomous, there are buses that leave from the Chora in the port area towards Agios Prokopios, your stop will be the second. We recommend that you always advise the driver when you get on that you are heading to Agia Anna beach because sometimes they don't stop. For timetables we advise you to check the table at the bus station.

Ultimately for a beautiful day at the beach with all the comforts and maybe in the middle a nice walk in exploration along the entire coast, we invite you to mark this particular and exciting beach in the things to see in Naxos.
