Dragonisi Island Mykonos

2 minutes to read

The Dragonisi Island or also called Tragonisi, we find it about a kilometer and a half in the east of Mykonos island, six kilometers from the beautiful Kalafatis Bay.

A small uninhabited pearl in the middle of the Aegean, of rock formations that the wind and the waves have shaped over time digging tunnels, giving it today still wild and unspoiled.

Given its beauty and fragility, it has become part of the Natura 2000 project which deals with preserving Greece areas, thus giving the opportunity to leave as Mother Nature created these wonderful and incredible places that fortunately I cannot be urbanized for mass tourism.

For a moment of relaxation, the Dragonisi Island hosts a small white sand beach where you can lie down and let yourself be kissed by the warm Hellenic sun and regenerate yourself with a nice swim in the Aegean waters.

An islet with a wild charm, surrounded by cliffs where water and wind have dug many tunnels creating very special caves to visit, where you can find only and exclusively here the yellow sea anemones and still a myriad of shiny fish called glassfish that numerous and undisturbed wallow free. The Dragonissi island is also a refuge for the species of the Mediterranean monk seal which is unfortunately becoming extinct but, which in this fairy place seems to have found a safe refuge to be able to save itself.

The Dragonisi Island is very loved and famous all over the world for those who practice diving or by speleologists who can enjoy the beautiful seabed and explore the sea caves. The most famous cave is the Sigillo cave  but only for experts I recommend. Some areas can be reached even by those who do not have a particular underwater preparation, just be careful and be good swimmers to be able to admire and enjoy this little corner of Eden.

How to reach the Dragonisi Island

Obviously it can only be reached by sea, there are organized excursions every day that will allow you to get there and spend a different day.

One of the things to do in Mykonos absolutely, do not miss the opportunity to discover this small island that offers a particular experience in contact with Nature and if you are lucky, you can also meet the seals and admire them up close.

The Mykonos island is also this, an interesting alternative to social life and all the things that the guest is usually waiting to find, where you can also give yourself a naturalistic moment that will remain forever as one of the best memories of the your holiday in Greece.
