Little Venice Mykonos

Little Venice is one of the most beautiful and symbolic places on the Mykonos island and is located in the eastern part in the capital Mykonos Town exactly near the old port. It extends from Alefkandra beach to the Kastro area.

The neighborhood is called this way because it is very reminiscent of the Venice city as it is characterized by ancient houses overlooking the sea built with the foundations in the water.

Dwellings with a thousand colors that belonged to captains and wealthy merchants in the 1700s, it almost seems that they are floating on the Aegean giving an amazing scenery to those who visit it.

Little Venice is located right in the center of the capital also called Chora and is a truly magical place especially at sunset when the waves take on the color of gold, the sky fades from yellow to red and the sea breaks on the promenade creating reflections and a unique and particular aura.For the ethereal beauty, Little Venice has become today the favorite destination of famous artists who have decided to set up their own home in this picturesque suburb. Painters and photographers from all over the world have immortalized its magnetism making it one of the most popular and photographed locations in Europe.

Most of the old houses have been transformed by famous architects into very chic bars or restaurants while retaining their old charm. The narrow alleys of Little Venice deliberately designed as a labyrinth to confuse and discourage pirates during the attack on the island, teem with art galleries, exhibitions, characteristic shops and boutiques for shopping lovers.

Little Venice actually has two souls, one totally romantic with a view of the sea, the windmills dating back to the 1500s behind, restaurants with tables on the water where you can taste traditional dishes but with a modern twist, a bar where you can sip a elegant cocktail contemplating the Aegean, the other instead making it a perfect and magical place where lovers of nightlife can choose cocktail bars with panoramic terraces to take your breath away or exclusive clubs where you can let loose until late at night.

If you have decided to stay in Mykonos Town, with a walk you can reach the area, if instead you have opted to stay outside the capital or in another area of the island, there is a bus service that connects Mykonos Town with almost all the villages. The best way, however, that will allow you to do what you want and when you want there is always a private vehicle that can be a car or a simple scooter.
