In this article we want to give you some tips on where to go if you fall into the category of people who, not giving up on unspoiled nature, want to discover this strange but wonderful island.

And where to find the well-deserved peace after a hard year of work? The beaches are the answer as most of the time during the holidays is dedicated to the sea. Here are ten coasts where you can enjoy hours of absolute idleness and devote to sunbathing without too many disturbing noises and where time passes quietly and lightly.

Kapari Beach

Another secret treasure of Mykonos, the Kapari beach. It is located about five kilometers from the capital Mykonos Town and close to the popular Agios Ioannis beach. Unspoiled and with a lonely flavor, it is the perfect place to enjoy the nature of Mykonos. A patch of sand with flat rocks, high cliffs behind that shelter it from the winds, turquoise waters that gently slope, perfect for a regenerating swim. Not equipped at all, without any trees to have a little shade and much less refreshment points, so if during your holiday in Mykonos you decide to spend the day, remember to bring everything! Just behind, the small church of Agios Ioannis which in September offers a beautiful festival where you can taste the famous Mykonos onion pie. From above the cliff instead you can see one of the most beautiful sunsets on the island.

Kalafatis Beach

Kalafati beach is perfect for families. We find it to the east near the Tarsanà beach and the characteristic Ano Mera village. Awarded every year by the Blue Flag, it is of an almost disarming natural beauty, a half kilometer long coastline of coarse white sand, a crystalline and turquoise sea with a seabed at the beginning with some rocks but which after a few meters becomes sandy. It is well equipped with sun beds, umbrellas at either end and offers a wide choice of water sports where you can have fun with all the family and friends. As for catering, a snack bar-restaurant will satisfy all your cravings. In the center, however, the beach of Kalatis is completely free so you can spread out your towel and relax in a great way. For the shade on the back tamarisk trees where to shelter during the hottest hours. From here there is a wonderful view of the Dragonisi island from the shape of a sleeping dragon and a short distance away Divounia one of the last fishing villages where you can taste excellent seafood.

Megali Ammos Beach

Megali Ammos beach is located two kilometers from Little Venice. Its name in Greek means "great sand" because before the construction of the road, the soft sand reached the base of the hill behind it. It is a not very busy beach, sometimes almost deserted without sunbeds or umbrellas because when the Meltemi blows on the Greek Islands, you can hear it very much here that on days when Aeolus is particularly restless it becomes the perfect destination for windsurfing lovers. A small tavern is present where you can enjoy excellent dishes such as fresh octopus or delicacies of traditional Greek and local cuisine. A mysterious legend revolves around the Megali Ammos beach... it is said that the spirit of the pirate Kapetanaki, pursued the beach as during the war, the shoreline was the point where the main goods were unloaded and the story is presumed to have been invents from the locals to keep people away at night. If you love horses, on the beach of Megali Ammos there is a riding school maybe for a walk at sunset!

Agios Stefanos Beach

Agios Stefanos beach is about one kilometer from Tourlos port. Enclosed in a bay protected from the winds, it is much loved especially by families as it offers soft white sand, calm waters with a turquoise sea with a gently sloping seabed. It is very well equipped, here you will find all the comforts for a relaxing day at the beach. Sunbeds, umbrellas and many taverns where you can sit and fill your tummy with delicious specialties. In addition to the beach, Agios Stefanos also has its namesake village with a very ancient historical past. The name comes from the small chapel dedicated to the saint located on the edge of the promontory. Its location offers breathtaking sunsets and views of the sacred Delos Island.

Lia Beach

Lia beach is located in the south east, about fifteen kilometers from the capital. A coast in a small quiet bay where you can escape from mass tourism and confusion. White sand and small pebbles with a shallow seabed ideal for families with children rock formations for snorkelers to explore, equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas, water sports, a beach bar for quick snacks and exotic cocktails while if you want a full lunch two characteristic taverns. A combination of sea and land, barren hills and nature still in its original state. From here you can see the islands of Paros and Naxos.

Agrari Beach

Agrari beach is on the southern coast of the island of Mykonos. Located between the famous Super Paradise beach and the Elia beach, thanks to its position even during the summer it remains quiet, offering privacy and relaxation. Two hundred and fifty meters long, it has a coastline of coarse sand, a calm sea with a rocky seabed so it's better to have rock shoes. Snorkeling is certainly the most interesting activity to do in search of the rich fauna and particularly florid marine flora. It has both a free part where you can choose where to lay your beach towel and shelter in the shade of the providential trees and an equipped part where you can find all the comforts.

Agios Sostis Beach

Agios Sostis beach is northbound four kilometers from Mykonos Town. A beautiful cove offers this delightful cove just after the Panormos beach, made of soft sand, crystalline turquoise sea and shallow water. All around fragrant wild aromatic herbs and rocky walls, typical landscape of the barren Greek islands. The Agios Sostis beach can be defined as an authentic oasis of peace only the sound of the sea. It is not equipped, everything is in the wild so remember to bring a parasol or something to shelter you during the hottest hours. An authentic tavern where you can find something to drink and where to eat delicious local cuisine and from which, going down a few steps, you reach another small beach with brick-colored rocks where you can enjoy a refreshing bath.

Mirsini Beach

Mirsini beach is located less than a kilometer from Fokos beach in the north east of the Mykonos island. It can be reached via a dirt path for the last stretch and presents itself with a shoreline of golden sand, transparent waters and a turquoise blue sea divided by rocks that seem to magically emerge from the sea. The landscape is extremely wild, perfect for those who want a quiet day at the beach. Snorkelers will find a real underwater paradise around the rocks. It is not equipped at all so bring everything you need if you decide to spend the whole day there.

Fokos Beach

Fokos beach is also located in the northern part of Mykonos near Mirisini beach or as it is also called Mersini beach. Perhaps one of the wildest, a still uncontaminated and original jewel. Quiet and welcoming, it has golden sand, clean waters that are almost always flat and rocky cliffs that surround it like a tender embrace where you can surely spend a relaxing and rejuvenating day at the beach. Not only is a small tavern equipped for something to drink and where you can enjoy delicious Greek and local cuisine. You can only get there with your own vehicle or a taxi.

Merchia Beach

Merchia beach is one of the last hidden gems of Mykonos Island. In the northeastern part it is located about eight kilometers from the village of Ano Meno. Enclosed in a small bay, it is the perfect place to isolate yourself from the crowds and spend unforgettable hours. A gravel beach and some pebbles, clear and clean waters, depths that descend from the first meters of the shore and salted cedars where you can shelter during the hottest hours of the day. An intact and extremely wild nature is what the beach of Merchia offers you. No comfort everything is in the wild so bring everything to drink and to eat. Surely its still natural beauty also owes it to the fact that reaching it is not so easy, you have to take a dirt road, but the effort will be well rewarded! Not far away if you want to explore the area a bit, the small chapel of St. Nicholas which stands on the rocks close to the sea.
