Mytakas Beach Milos

2 minutes to read

The Mytakas beach, we find it in the northern part of Milos right in the center where the island makes a kind of curve before the famous Sarakiniko beach.

Very similar to the Alogomandra beach and the Agios Konstatinos village, the Mytakas beach is in a beautiful bay with two coasts one wider and one smaller but with both fine clear sand, transparent and clear waters, a turquoise sea and blue and gently sloping backdrops ideal for families with children.

The two beaches are surrounded by rock formations and divided between them by two large V-shaped boulders that naturally delimit the areas. Unfortunately given its position when the Meltemi the fresh north wind blows on the Cyclades Islands but on all of Greece it actually causes rough sea with the formation of some waves and is not exactly ideal for swimming or bathing. On the contrary, when everything is quiet, Mytakas beach becomes a real paradise where you can spend a quiet day at the beach.

The largest part is equipped with a few sun beds and umbrellas and for something to drink fresh or quick to eat there is a small kiosk open only in the summer season. The smaller beach instead has some trees where to shelter during the hottest hours but it is completely free so you can decide where to put your towel and enjoy the sun in relaxation. Around the shore there are flat stones where you can lie down, let yourself be pampered by the Hellenic sun rays and get a tan to make you envious.

The Mytakas beach is the context that surrounds it. In reality it was born as a small fishing village where the typical Syrmata characteristics are still present today, typical buildings dug into the volcanic rock right next to the sea once used as a shelter for fishermen boats during the winter period to preserve them from atmospheric events and, every door has its own specific color that sailors needed to recognize their own once they returned from fishing. Nowadays almost all of them have been transformed into highly sought-after holiday homes due to their particularity.

Not beaten by mass tourism, it is certainly a perfect destination to escape from the noisy crowds and to have a moment of peace. You can take a nice walk on the water's edge, enjoy the wonderful view of the Aegean and breathe the typical atmosphere of a small Greek village.

How to get to Mytakas Beach

It would be better to have your own vehicle so you can be independent and decide how much time to dedicate to this little corner of Eden.

From whichever part of the island you will stay you have to go north on the main asphalted road and arrive right where Milos takes the shape of a crescent and follow the road signs. The road that then leads definitively to the Mytakas beach is unpaved but very feasible.

For a different moment, where to spend a beautiful day with a fairytale sea and still ancient flavor are the reasons that should push you to include the beach and the Mytakas village among the things to see in Milos and last but not least in importance, a further knowledge of this wonderful and particular island.
