Waterfall Nidri Lefkada

The beautiful Lefkada island, unlike many Greek Islands which are arid and have a typical lunar landscape especially during the summer when temperatures are so high that they burn the vegetation, is blessed with numerous reserves of underground water and it is precisely this that makes itlargely lush with vegetation.

Its high peaks generate numerous waterfalls which then end up in the sea and the best known without a doubt are the Dimosari Waterfalls also called Nydri Waterfalls. We find them just outside the picturesque Nidri village on the south coast of the eastern side where they end in a gorge full of white rocks. The Nidri village is one of the most sought after places for a holiday in Lefkada as in addition to being in an area of extraordinary natural beauty, it offers its visitors everything necessary for a complete holiday.

In the island's hinterland you can find this little corner of paradise where you can indulge in a truly refreshing bath. The less than half a kilometer long hiking trail to reach the Dimosari Waterfalls is immersed in an original nature among huge plane trees and vegetation that gives its best, making the walk very pleasant and almost enchanted.

It is essential to have suitable clothing especially as regards footwear, avoid flip flops, better a nice pair of tennis shoes and perhaps some rock shoes as the rocks being surrounded by a humid area are very slippery and dangerous. During your journey at a certain point you will begin to feel the hypnotic rhythm of the water and this means that you are close to the first waterfall, the smallest one. Continuing further through the enchanted forest, you will arrive at the second largest one. Cold waters with a green and blue color, a sort of natural swimming pool where you can dive and reactivate your circulation properly

Then it is very simple and convenient. If you have a rental vehicle, whether a car or scooter, you will have to head in the direction of Nidri. As soon as you pass the village you will find yourself on the road that takes you to the Rachi village and a wonderful natural canyon. At the end of the road you will come across a car park where you can leave your vehicle and take the well marked walking path until you reach this corner of Eden.
