Vasiliki and its beaches Lefkada

2 minutes to read

Vasiliki village and beach, after Nydri, are the second most visited destination of Lefkada. We are located in the southern part of the island, where a large bay has become a lively tourist center that welcomes many visitors every year. It's not hard to understand why. A very large beach of sand and pebbles, bathed by a very blue sea and surrounded by lush vegetation. Even if it is not so much its beauty that attracts many people as its particular vocation.

Vasiliki beach is in fact known internationally as a privileged place for lovers of windsurfing and kitesurfing. A constant wind gradually builds up to arrive, in the early afternoon, to reach the ideal conditions that lovers of these sports are looking for. It will therefore be normal, having arrived here, to admire the rainbow of sails and kites of those intent on surfing the waves of this wonderful bay.

But if these are not your intentions, there is nothing to worry about. Another feature of Vasiliki beach is the shallow waters, which slowly slope towards the open sea. This makes a refreshing dip in its sea very safe, even for those traveling with children. Especially in the morning, when the wind, still calm, seems to want to give everyone a relaxing bath.

Here on the beach you really have everything you could possibly need. Vasiliki is richly equipped with beach services, such as sunbeds and umbrellas, as well as a multitude of bars and chalets near the beach. Here you can take a little rest from the summer sun, with a cool drink while admiring the blue sea. And of course it doesn't end there.

As an important tourist destination of the island, from Vasiliki you also have the opportunity to rent boats for some wonderful tours or to reach other destinations in Lefkada. From the furthest ones, which will take you to visit some of the most fascinating beaches on the island, such as Porto Tatsiki or Egremni. A shorter excursions, for an exploration of the splendid ravines of the bay.

Just a few steps from Vasiliki, easily reachable by sea, there are some coves immersed in nature of uncommon beauty. The first you come across is Agiofili beach, a small, crescent-shaped cove of white pebbles and clear water. Here you can also get there on foot, taking a path that starts a short distance from the small port of Vasiliki. Just beyond the beach of Agiofili, crossing a promontory, you can reach the Kastri beach, small and protected, and that of Amoussa, much more extensive and equipped.

In other words, there are many beautiful things to see in Vasiliki and around its bay, and they deserve more than a stop for an in-depth visit. This even if you want to experience the sea from a little further away.

Behind the Vasiliki beach, there are vast flat lands covered with Mediterranean vegetation. They are ideal environments for enjoying very pleasant walks and also discovering what the island hinterland can offer. For those who want to go even further, perhaps by renting a bicycle, Roupakias is located about 10 km from Vasiliki. An ancient abandoned village next to a stream, which still retains some of its original stone structures.
