Nydri Lefkada

The small Nydri village in Lefkada is one of the most popular destinations for those on holiday on the Greek island. That is the fact that the Ithaca described by Homer could actually be the Lefkada island. Some scholars have in fact retraced the descriptions of the places in the Odyssey, and proposed this thesis. Precisely in Nydri, according to these reconstructions, the Palace of Ulysses would have been found on the hill overlooking the town. Today there is an archaeological site where a series of remains from the classical period are collected, which can be visited.

If the beach and the legends already deserve due attention, what awaits us in Nydri is much more. Near the village, there is one of the most interesting naturalistic scenarios of the island hinterland. These are the Dimosari waterfalls. A natural spectacle on the one hand, but also a chance to dive into the regenerating waters that the waterfalls carry downstream. To get to see this unexpected event in the heart of Lefkada, surrounded by verdant flora, the path is simple. You can find the signs already on the main road of Nydri. Following them, you pass the nearby Rachi village and a natural canyon. At the end of the road, you can park your car and take a footpath that will take you to your destination. Since it is an excursion in nature with the possibility of a nice bath, it is advisable to bring comfortable sneakers, as well as shoes for rocks.

When sunset arrives, life in Nydri doesn't stop. Indeed, in many ways it begins. A large offer of nightclubs, pubs, restaurants, discos and beach clubs makes the nightlife yet another attraction of this surprising location. Starting from the Nydri seafront, the choice to stop for dinner or a drink is very wide. After that you can reach the two largest discos on the whole island, the Sail Inn and the Capitol, to spend the rest of the night dancing.
