Porto Katsiki Beach Lefkada

Porto Katsiki beach is located in the most extreme southwest part of the fantastic Lefkada island, about forty kilometers from the capital.

A beach of wild beauty, much longer than you can imagine with high rock stacks on the sides, a shoreline of pebbles and small clear stones, bathed by a turquoise sea on the shore that fades into many shades of blue until it merges with the sky. The seabed drops quickly after about a meter or two so if you have children or you are not a good swimmer, be careful. We also recommend rock shoes to move without the risk of bad honeycombs on the shore and when you go for a swim.

Katsiki beach is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean and an identifying symbol of the Lefkada island and is truly spectacular. To reach it you need to make about fifty steps dug out of the rock but in the end you will be greeted by a show impossible to describe, you have to try it for yourself to understand.

Another staircase on the beach side will take you to a peninsula which is suitable only for the more daring. A lovely place to admire the sunset and the cliffs that change color for the light to become orange.

The beach is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas, but I end quickly because despite being a bit demanding to reach it, it is very popular and everyone wants to spend at least a day in this corner of paradise. For food and water, a restaurant makes deliveries to order directly on the beach or before going down to the parking lot there are equipped kiosks.

Near the Porto Katsiki beach there is also the famous lighthouse of Cape Lefkada where to say that the view is spectacular would be an understatement.

Is not difficult, by land with your own vehicle to reach the Athani village, follow the signs for Vasiliki where you will meet a dirt road (a little demanding but you can do it) that will take you to the parking lot above the beach and walk from there to the staircase. An alternative is by sea with numerous organized excursions that leave from the ports of Agios Nikitas and Vasiliki.We recommend excursions with small Gulets and with more limited routes, but which allow longer stops to enjoy the beauty of the sea and places.

We recommend you to visit the Porto Katski beach in the morning or at sunset (the colors will leave you speechless by the particularity and beauty) because in the middle of the day a part of the beach for the rocks has no sun.

Finally, what to say except that no trip to the Lefkada island would be perfect without a visit to Porto Katsiki.
