Agios Nikitas Lefkada

Agios Nikitas village is one of the main destinations on the Lefkada island. Something not to be missed for anyone who wants to fully enjoy the seaside atmosphere of the Greek island. The small and intimate fishing village is today a lively center full of typical restaurants and shops. Its houses and cobblestone streets create a context of other times, where you can pleasantly stroll without the encumbrance of the car. Arriving by car, you can park around the village, surrounded by a ring road. In the summer periods of greatest turnout, however, it is not easy to find a place. The advice is therefore to move early enough to reach it. Agios Nikitas is located just 13 kilometers from Lefkada Town, on the west coast of the island. Also due to this position, and the fact that it is raised above sea level, it is a delightful vantage point for admiring spectacular sunsets. Going around Agios Nikitas it will be no coincidence that you will find corners of the village with bewitching views of the sea and the coast.

It will be a pleasure to stop here for a tasty local lunch. As is often the case in the historic fishing villages of the Greek islands, excellent fresh fish always arrives here. And Greek restaurants and taverns are the place to taste it. The selection of local products, such as oils and wines, from the vineyards and olive groves surrounding the village is also interesting. This alone would be worth a visit to the country. But, of course, there is much more.

From the center of the village you can easily reach the main beach of Agios Nikitas. All you need to do is take the central road that gradually descends to the sea to the north. You will arrive at a cozy cove of sand and pebbles, enclosed between two verdant promontories and enlivened by intense blue waters. On the other side of the village, towards the west, one reaches one of the most popular beaches in all of Lefkada. This is the Milos beach, a large expanse of pebbles where the sea takes on fabulous shades and colors. Undoubtedly one of the reasons that made this beach famous on the island. Here you have the availability of renting deck chairs and umbrellas, as well as a kiosk for refreshments. Milos beach can be reached on foot from Agios Nikitas, following a path that will take you to the sea in about twenty minutes. Or, taking a boat from the main beach.

Always with the help of a boat, it is also possible to reach other beaches that are located near Agios Nikitas. Among these, the most interesting is undoubtedly the Kathisma beach. Another breathtaking naturalistic beauty. The keyword around here is 'fun'. Intended as the possibility of having fun in many different ways, during the day and in the evening. On the beach of Kathisma you will have the opportunity to indulge in water sports, paragliding, snorkeling, and have all types of beach services available, especially sunbeds and umbrellas. Behind the lido there are numerous places to enjoy an aperitif when the evening comes. As well as discos which, around four in the afternoon, give the green light to their DJs to play music and make anyone who wants to dance. Among these, the most famous is certainly the Copla. It is located directly on the beach, and admission is free but with mandatory consumption. A true center of Lefkada nightlife, very popular with young people.
