Mastichari Beach Kos

2 minutes to read

The beautiful Mastichari Beach is found on the northwest side of Kos in about half of the island. The capital Kos Town is twenty-seven kilometers away while the picturesque Antimachia village where one of the castles of the Knights of San Giovanni is located about three.

The typical fishing village, despite the advent of tourism is still one of the few places where the atmosphere and lifestyle is linked to ancient traditions and slow rhythms, here 'no one is hectic, here' peace reigns and it is therefore perfect for a relaxing holiday in Greece.

Its kilometer-long beach of soft, fine white sand, has a sea of turquoise shades so as to take on an almost Caribbean flavor. Transparent and clean waters that gently descend thus allowing families with children to enjoy fantastic sunny days. It is equipped with sun beds and umbrellas and given its size you will never be on top of each other, on the contrary between you and your neighbors there will be the right distance to have a minimum of privacy. Given its extension, Mastichari beach is perfect for those who love walking on the water's edge or taking the small road between sand dunes and low shrubs, you could walk for a long time not even realizing the road you have taken due to the beauty of the surrounding nature. Behind it the village, with all its typical taverns where you can eat very fresh and quality fish, some shops and some accommodation facilities such as delightful apartments that overlook the coast.

The most beautiful moment in Mastichari beach is certainly the sunset, from here you can enjoy a spectacle that is difficult to explain in words, you have to come to understand the magnificence that Mother Nature offers every day.

Given its position, Mastichari beach can sometimes be exposed to the wind and for this reason it is the preferred beach for sportsmen who love to try their hand at sports where the breeze is the primary element. It will not be difficult to see spectacular acrobatics with kitesurfing and windsurfing so much so that right here you can find a school where you can start or simply have fun in these exciting activities. For the less sporty you can rent canoes and pedal boats to explore the wonderful coast and the majestic Aegean Sea.

In Mastichari there is also a small marina where boats leave every day for the nearby island of Kalymnos, which is also beautiful and wild with its splendid beaches, lots of culture and a gastronomic offer based on local products.

About three kilometers away, we find the Lido Waterpark, a fun water park with an area of 75,000 square meters. Pools, slides, waves and rivers of water all surrounded by green and well-kept gardens, bars and restaurants where you can have a drink or eat from a snack to a full lunch. Young and old will surely find their space and fun is guaranteed. https://www.lidowaterpark.com/

How to get to Mastichari Beach

Again, it's child's play. You have to take the only main road on the island of Kos and at a certain point turn right (if you come from Kos Town) or left (if you come from the south of the island) and follow the road signs for Mastichari. Also in this case, you can opt for either a scooter, car or quad rental vehicle or use the public service which provides several daily trips from the main tourist resorts. Always pay close attention to the timetable.

A beach and a village to be included among the things to see in Kos, perhaps stopping for the magnificent sunset and ending with a nice meal of fish with the sea as a backdrop.
