Limnionas Beach Kos

2 minutes to read

Another one of our favorite beaches is Limnionas beach which is located in the southwestern part of the Kos island in the Kefalos area, we are about forty kilometers from the capital Kos Town.

Quiet and not very popular with mass tourism, rather you will find Greek families, especially on weekends, camping out making generous bbqs, it is the perfect place for those who do not want the confusion (apart from the weekend) and enjoy a sunny day.

Limnionas beach is a long strip of fine gold-colored sand, embraced by luxuriant vegetation of typical Mediterranean scrub that descends towards the sea. Its waters are turquoise and transparent but in some places you can find the algae of the Posidonia species which make the seabed a bit muddy. All around rocky stretches and low cliffs where the marine fauna and flora are a spectacle and very interesting for lovers of snorkelling and diving.

In reality, Limnionas beach is divided into two parts, separated by a strip of land, the right side is the one equipped with a few sunbeds and umbrellas so 'if you want comfort better arrive early to be able to choose the place with a cost of about €7 per day, the left side is completely free and wild. Given its position it is quite protected from the winds more the left side than the right but nevertheless never annoying to the point of giving up a day being kissed by the warm Kos sun.

Just before the coasts, a wonderful tavern with a beautiful view and where you can eat really well (obviously we tried it for you), where you can enjoy the specialties especially of fresh fish and of the Greek tradition, comfortably seated contemplating the sea. The restaurant is also open in the evening and if you arrive at sunset for a pre-dinner aperitif you will certainly be enchanted.

The road to reach it is very suggestive as it is elevated with respect to the coast, paved but not so well at times there are also holes of various sizes but which will allow you to discover the inner part of the still uncontaminated area and the barren and arid landscape with some splashes of color given by the bushes and wild heather seedlings.

Not everyone loves Limnionas beach because in fact it is so quiet, it is more suitable for those who want to stay in close contact with nature, go diving, long and relaxing swims and do not like crowds. From the small port where fishermen usually dock, there are boats that offer a fun fishing excursion. Right in front of Limnionas beach you can see the nearby island of Kalymnos, famous for its natural sponges and where climbing enthusiasts come from all over the world.

How to get to Limnionas Beach

Very simple, you must necessarily have a rental vehicle because there are no public lines that go up to here. Wherever you decide to stay, you will have to head south to the Kefalos area following the only road that crosses the whole island. At a certain point on your right you will find a sign indicating Limnionas, take the road and after about three kilometers between small bends and spectacular views you will be at your destination.

For a relaxing day without giving up on comforts or for the wildest the freedom to choose, we recommend putting it on the list of things to do in Kos, it will be a different day and then take advantage of tasting the delicacies of the tavern, you will not regret it.
