Cavo Greco Beach Kos

2 minutes to read

The Sunny Beach also known as Cavo Greco Beach and once also Psilos Gremos Beach, we find it in the southwest part of the beautiful Kos Island in the area called Kefalos which in Greek means brain and owes its name to the shape of the island that seen from the space has the appearance of a goat where Kefalos is the head.

Positioned between two other Kos must-haves, the Magic beach (one of our favorites where at the end of the season we indulge in a long Spartan bbq with friends that lasts from morning to sunset) and the Markos Beach, also beautiful and wild, where you can let yourself be lulled by the noise of the sea. A coast of overwhelming beauty, still intact and primitive despite being visited by many people especially in the summer, has a coarse sand beach, transparent and crystalline waters, a blue sea that fades to turquoise to shiny blue towards the wide and with a bottom that goes down slowly, perfect for families with children and those who love to take long swims.

It is equipped with a couple of rows of sunbeds and straw umbrellas for about € 6 a day where obviously those who arrive first take the best position and comfort, while most of the rest is completely free and you can spread out your towel or plant your umbrella where you prefer. The eastern part of the Cavo Greco beach is a popular destination for naturists  and does not offer any kind of comfort. If you are a lover of water sports, know that here massimo is the pedal boat 'if you want to move you have to move to Paradise Beach about three kilometers ahead where you can indulge yourself with a wide choice of activities suitable for all ages.

As for the restaurant, a beautiful tavern renovated in recent years (we still remember it when it was very spartan) with a magnificent view of the coast and the wonderful Aegean Sea that offers a wide choice of dishes based on fresh fish that directly the family he takes care of going fishing and treats of classic Greek cuisine.

Curiosity

Along the road at a certain point you will find a sign indicating "Plaka". If you want to immerse yourself in a Nordic country-style forest where peacocks and cats in the wild roam free and quiet and enjoy a little coolness, pay them a visit. It is a very pleasant moment of pause, you can also walk through a path in the middle of the trees and you will realize that you will be right inside a crater. Yes, because Plaka is actually a crater where this small miniature forest was born. This magical place is very popular among the inhabitants of Kos who during the Easter period especially love to gather right here and organize succulent bbq thanks to a special pit where they can roast the classic food of the party which consists of goat or lamb.

How to reach Cavo Greco Beach

The whole coast in the south of Kos towards Kefalos is very easy to reach also because there is only one main road on the island so it is impossible to go wrong.

Wherever you decide to stay for your holiday in Kos, you must therefore take the main road Eprachiaki Odos ko-Keaflou and follow the signs at the various roundabouts you will encounter, however, always keep to the right. Past the airport that you find on the left, you will practically turn around the airport and go straight on. After about a quarter of an hour on the road through the countryside, pine trees sculpted by the wind and wild oleanders, you will arrive right in the area of Kefalos where the bay will open in front of you and to the right and left you will find signs for all the splendid beaches. of this part of the island.

Obligatory stop the Cavo Greco beach, perhaps combining it with another neighboring one and to be marked on the program of things to see in Kos.
