Finiki Village Karpathos

2 minutes to read

Finiki village is found in the southwestern part of the Karpathos island, less than two kilometers from the Arkasa village. About twenty kilometers from the capital Pigadia.

Definitely the ideal place for those who decide to spend a relaxing and peaceful holiday. A small fishing village that offers only and exclusively excellent fish taverns always fresh (on the other hand if not here since they are all skilled fishermen where?), A small beach, some grocery stores and a path where you can take a walk, nothing other.

Finiki is the ancient port of Karpathos, in the past it was very important together with the port of Arkasa as from here the ships that connected to Kasos island and the whole Dodecanese arrived and departed. With the arrival of modernity, the increase in commercial and tourist flow, for convenience all routes were transferred to the port of Pigadia the capital.

Let's say that perhaps it was also a fortune since now Finiki remains a very beautiful area of Karpathos, a real oasis of peace for all those who want to escape from the frenzy and overcrowding. However, the fact remains that during the high season even Finiki fills up more than usual but until now never to become suffocating.

Its location is perfect for visiting the island, in fact, taking the road towards Lefkos and continuing to Aperi, Othos and Volada, it cuts without having to pass through Pigadia , thus managing to arrive also in the beautiful and wild northern part of Karpathos with villages to be discovered and dream beaches.

Currently in Finiki there are five family-run taverns where you can enjoy excellent cuisine, not for nothing the town is very popular especially for the high quality of food that you can find in few other places in Karpathos. In the small port wedged in a small cove protected from the winds, there are the wooden boats of the fishermen that make the village even more picturesque by making the visitor find what he usually imagines when he comes to Greece.

Despite tourism has amplified the accommodation facilities, fortunately Finiki still retains that peaceful and traditional atmosphere. Do not miss the moment of sunset, here it is something spectacular, perhaps over a glass of wine or ouzo as an aperitif while contemplating the magic that Mother Nature gives us every day.

Now let's talk about Finiki beach, a small coast of gold-colored sand, bathed by a clear and turquoise sea typical of Karpathos. It is equipped but there are not many sun beds and umbrellas so it is better to arrive early to be able to take a comfortable seat. The price varies from 7 to 10 € per day for two deck chairs and a parasol. The seabed drops gently and the waters are almost always very calm given the protection of the bay, therefore perfect for lovers of long swims and for families with children. For the canonical peckish there is no problem behind the few but good taverns.

A panoramic point where it is possible to admire the village and the majestic Aegean is from the chapel of Agios Nikolaos which is located in an area a bit higher than the town.

How to get to Finiki Village

Always keeping Pigadia as a reference, head southwest and follow the road signs.

A beautiful glimpse of Karpathos where time is an opinion, where you can relax while enjoying nature and without too many pretensions still find the comforts for a relaxing and perfect holiday in Greece!
