Arkasa Beach Karpathos

2 minutes to read

Near t Arkasa village in the south west part of Karpathos, we find Arkasa Beach or also called Agios Nikolaos (not to be confused with Agios Nikolaos in the north).

A beautiful coast of gold-colored sand with a sea that is a bit overpowering because of the wind that is always there and the strong currents of the sea (especially on the left side of the beach) but like anywhere else on the island of Karpathos, transparent and clear looking at the island of Kassose.

Ideal for lovers of water sports such as windsurfing or kite surfing and expert swimmers. The beach is equipped with sun beds and umbrellas at a cost of about € 10 per, but with a single tavern for something refreshing or to eat some specialties of the local culinary tradition and classic Greek cuisine. The sunset time from Arkasa beach is sublime and difficult to forget.

Arkasa village has a great historical importance. On the top of the promontory behind the remains of the gigantic walls of the acropolis which offers a crazy panorama of the bay. Originally Arkasa was the capital of the Karpathos island and together with the nearby village of Finiki they were considered important crossroads for the rocks of the Dodecanese archipelago.

How to reach Arkasa Beach

Is really simple, either with your own vehicle following the directions, or with the bus that leaves from the capital Pigadia.
