2 minutes to read

The Myrties beach, we find it in the southwest part of the sporting Kalymnos Island about ten kilometers from the lively capital Pothia.

Myrties is a well-known tourist resort on the island, many people for a holiday in Kalymnos decide to stay in this area because it offers everything they need and also for its favorable position for exploring the whole territory.

The Myrties village is surrounded by greenery with pines, cypresses and has a truly suggestive landscape where the rolling hills behind are dotted with typical traditional houses that intersect in narrow streets and where the taste of embellishing with colorful flowers makes the environment relaxing and typically Greek postcard.

You can find numerous accommodation solutions that can range from a simple room for rent, to apartments rather than delightful small and medium-sized hotels, nightlife venues, small shops and many typical taverns where you can taste the delicacies of the local cuisine (including the other excellent) and Greek.

Whenever we can allow ourselves a few days of relaxation, we too choose the area of Myrties or that of Massouri, here the fun is guaranteed and the services, even if of a simple nature, are perfect. Even the locals when they want to get distracted opt to come to this part of the island and this fact already speaks volumes.

Like any self-respecting seaside resort, here too there is a city coast where you can spend a beautiful day at the beach under the warm Hellenic rays of the sun. The Myrties beach has a long beach of about seven hundred meters composed of small pebbles, transparent and clean waters so as to earn it the recognition of the Blue Flag, a sea that varies from emerald green to blue and seabed that descend slowly for the first meters therefore suitable for families with children. If you have delicate feet, however, we recommend that you bring rock shoes. To the south, Myrties beach is completely open, while to the north it is protected by imposing rocks so the sea is almost always calm, ideal for a regenerating swim and for snorkelers who can explore the enchanting and mysterious seabed in addition to the cave located on the left side.

It is well equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas, while as regards the restaurant, you will be spoiled for choice on where to sit, put your legs under the table and delight your taste buds with the numerous gastronomic proposals.

From the natural port of Myrties during the day with a frequency of about every half hour during the summer, the boat leaves that can take you to the beautiful Telendos islet which is located right in front of the coast of Myrties, a wonderful piece of land emerged separated from the island of Kalymnos in 553 BC due to a terrible earthquake that created a gorge of about seven hundred meters.

A few words about Telendos are a must! This magnificent island offers some mystical and extremely wild beaches. Only a couple of taverns are to be found but they are delicious so much that you have to compete to find a free table. On the 15th of August in honor of the Virgin Mary, a beautiful festival is organized that attracts the faithful and curious from all over.

But the highlight that distinguishes Telendos from so many other parts of the Dodecanese archipelago is undoubtedly the time of sunset. A unique spectacle when sea and sky take on golden colors of red, yellow, orange and blue which together make the scenery enchanting.
